Hello everyone,

I'm still a fairly new Commission Junction member. Thus I'm wondering if a CJ member is allowed to advertise their Advertiser's links in other websites other than their own ?

For instance, can I advertise the Advertiser links in other traffic exchanges or traffic resellers, on sites that aren't mine nor have been approved by CJ ?

Thanks!

Hi,

In most cases, YES its ok. But your advertiser can set up any rules that they want.

Most cases, As long as you are bring in sales, it doesn't matter.

Mike,

Hmm, are you sure ? Cause when I asked CJ the same question, shown below was their response:

"Are these your websites that you would be putting advertisers links on? If so, you will want to add these websites onto your CJ Account (under the Account tab > website settings). This way, they will track to your account and you will be within the CJ policies."

As you see, it's not exactly a "Sure, no problem. You can do it" reply. Not sure what to make of it ? What do you think ?

Thanks!

For me as an affiliate manager, its impossible to find and check every link from my affiliates to check WHERE the orders really come from. Neither can CJ.

Ofcourse CJ has to put that rule about putting all the sites that you advertise in your profile, but there is not really an easy way to check.

As long as you bring in sales, CJ will not care, nor will your merchant.

I will probably only care if you are tarnishing our image, but other than that, pretty much everything is fair game.

But remember, this is only my opinion, 1 viewpoint. I am not sure many affiliate manager are here or not, but I would think they might feel the same way.

Mike,

Here's the update. That after our last discussion, I then asked CJ the following questions:

<-- start of questions -->

Hi,

I asked if it was okay for a CJ publisher to advertise the Advertisers' links in websites that weren't theirs.

And that CJ had replied the following:

"Are these your websites that you would be putting advertisers links on? If so, you will want to add these websites onto your CJ Account (under the Account tab > website settings). This way, they will track to your account and you will be within the CJ policies."

Which brings the next question. Would it be alright if I advertise an advertisers' link in websites that aren't mine as long I still add them into my account's profile ?

Or is the implication there that I still cannot advertise the advertisers' links in any other websites other than mine altogether even if I could add these to my account's profile ?

Please advise. I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

<-- end of questions -->

And shown below was their reply:

<-- start of reply -->

"The bottom line is to consider who will get paid.

1. if you put your affiliate Advertiser's links on any of your own website that is not registered with Commission Junction, you will not generate commission out of it.

2. If you put your affiliate Advertiser's links on to other CJ Publisher's website who has not set up affiliation with that Advertiser, no commission will be generated.

3. If this publisher does have affiliation with the Advertiser, he will generate commission. He should add the link by himself."

<-- end of reply -->

I'm still not sure if they answered my question... Confused

You can just test it out, its no harm. Worst that could happen is that you get a warning. Everybody is allowed to make some mistakes, you genuinely am not sure.

Just do not work with spyware and take other publisher's money while you are doing it.
