Hi Friends! Smile My greetins to you all!

I am from India. The very idea of making money from home through affiliate-programs really fascinates me. I have read and tried to know a little bit about affiliate programs and had even joined one. I have my own website too. But all this seemed to lead me nowhere for want of proper knowledge and efforts on my part. I desired to know whether there are actually people - common real people - who are making money from affiliate programs and whether it will be possible for me to make money too. I was desperately in search of mentors and successful people to emulate. And then during my search I stumbled upon this forum started by a respected figure on the subject - Mr. Allan Gardyn.

Having joined this forum recently I went through some of the posts and sensed that this is the place which could prove to be of help to me; which could provide me a sense of belonging to a community of people which share more or less same kind of dream - to work from the comfort of home using computer and internet; which might give me some tips and techniques.

I already have created a website and with whatever little time I can find out of my daily work I try to improve it. Only time will tell if it will work or not. Having become a part of this forum I look forward to success. I hope to have a wonderful association and great time with all of you and desire to exchange tips and tricks of the game. Friends wish you all a great success with affiliate-programs. I look forward to learn a lot from you. Ah yes! my special thanks to Allan for this forum.

Thanks VarunPratap for your reply. It was really encouraging and exciting to know the quoted info. So can you please throw more light on who else is making money through affiliate programs in India. How much are YOU earning per month? How long did it take for you to start earning after you launched your first project? For how long do you expect to keep on making money through internet? How many web projects one needs to have to succeed? Is it possible to become financially free through affiliate programs for anyone who really desires it ? Please answer.

Nahush, You're much more likely to receive carefully considered replies if you ask one question at a time.

It took me two years before I quit my day job.

There is almost unlimited opportunity because you're dealing with a global market. Some people fail. Some succeed brilliantly. The rest of us fall somewhere in between.

Where you are, and where you will be, is entirely up to you.

The main things you need are a willingness to continue learning, and persistence.

I earn far more than I ever dreamed possible when I started out. Some earn mere pocket money. Some earn nothing.

A good target for a beginner to aim for is $500 a month from 500 visitors a day.

You don't need lots of web sites, but it is useful to diversify in case something goes wrong.

but Yes. You can earn lots of money through affiliate programs. My freind doens't have any products of his own.
I dont have any product... all of my income is affiliate based products.

How long did it take for you to start earning after you launched your first
project?
umm 3 months for me... tho I m worst example.. people have started earning from the very 1st day.. Smile

For how long do you expect to keep on making money through internet?
as long as there is internet Very Happy that I hope

How many web projects one needs to have to succeed?
Like Allan said.. there's no counting in this regards. there will be some sucess, some failure... I have 2 failed sites myself too...

if you take my advice.. I suggest get James martell handbook. It'll help you a lot, it's like the bible for affiliates..

I am really happy to have received reply from the Master Very Happy . Thanks Allan for personally replying. I liked this thing. I have seen in many subjects in this forum that Allan has always cared to personally post a message, wherever and whenever necessary. This is one encouraging fact about this forum. Thanks once again Allan.

I will surely act according to your advice - not to ask too many questions at a time, but instead to ask one question at a time. Smile

My thanks to Varun too for replying. You appear to me to be one of the active members of this forum, and quite experienced.

Well! I could lay my hand on this ebook by Ken Evoy "Affiliate Masters Course" and I find that its a wonderful guide for people like me. Currently I am in the process of reading it, with whatever little time I am able to find from my schedule. That notwithstanding, I would still need guidance from Gurus like you from time to time. Is James Martell's handbook any better than "Affiliates Masters Course ? Please answer.

I think james is better than ken's course(which is really good btw)... but there are many people who also swears by ken's course. so the opinion differs...
I, myself started off with Ken's course too. but I think its better to treat this as a business than hobby site like ken says.
I recently got the james book and I think if I had this boook earlier I wouldn't have done some mistakes that I did with my sites.

and well I m most active?.. nah... if I have time I at least come once a day to this forum

Allan and Varun! Yes I am willing to learn. I am willing to invest time in learning. And in taking relevant steps.

Varun! what is your time allocation schedule for affiliate busienss after doing all the work for earning a living.

As far Allan is concerned, I understand that he is now full time into affiliate business. Would you please tell me Allan how much time you used to devote daily when you began doing business on net, after your job hours.

Will you please tell me approximately how much time do a beginner like me need invest daily (or weekly ?), if I want to achieve the target of earning $500 per month as suggested by Allan. I will appreciate your response.

I'm definitely not a good example. I was desperate to escape from a job I'd grown to hate, and I spent as near as possible to every available hour, from dawn to around midnight, working. Then after I quit my day job, I used to spend about 16 hours a day, usually seven days a week, working on the Internet business. I did that for several years. I was nuts. I just about killed myself.

The silly thing is that a large proportion of my time wasn't wisely spent.

There's no simple answer to that. It depends on your skills, interests, and especially on your ability to focus. Perhaps you can do it in 10 hours a week. Perhaps not.

Also, times have changed. When I started, as far as I know, there were no helpful forums like this where you could go and ask people for help. There were no affiliate instruction manuals. I had to learn everything the hard way. I wasted an enormous amount of time searching for information, trying little experiments, and fiddling with HTML. Shortcuts are available for all those things now.

Focus is HUGELY important. When I was seriously ill a couple of years ago and running this business from a hospital bed, I was suddenly forced to learn how to focus because I didn't have the energy to spend much time on the business.

I used to keep asking myself questions like...

"What's the most important thing I need to do today?"
"What's the most useful thing I can do RIGHT NOW?"
"Am I learning anything useful reading this?"
"Does this really matter? Can I ignore this?"
"Could my time be better spent doing something else?"
"Is this making me money?"

There's no point spending 40 hours a week on something if most of your activity is misdirected. In affiliate marketing, it's very tempting to concentrate on activities you enjoy instead of activities which move you towards your goal of generating revenue. (Ideally, you want to figure out a way of combining satisfaction AND income generation.)

If you absorb this lesson and learn how to laser focus, it could be the most important lesson you ever learn. Many affiliates never manage to learn it.

I have an internet site and sell my artwork on it... I don't get many hits in a week. Maybe 5 or less. I know the reason and its adertising. But I am not inclined to want that much traffic really, silly huh? Well, I can't paint or draw fast enough to suit more than 3 clients in a month. I've had critics tell me "you should do this or that" to increase traffic. I will pass that on to you, though for my hobby and I stress, hobby... I can do without all the advertising.

My thoughts for you are what has been told to me... Get some decent adv on the net, on your car, in your emails, spot adds on TV (citizens channels)... and of course your dedication to your business is essential. My art business has taken a back seat to my Real Estate life... which has nearly taken over my life LOL!

Good luck!

Each and every word of what you wrote Allan and which I extracted above, each and every letter of it, is so extremely important that everyone who is reading this should make printouts of your above quoted words and paste them on a wall above their computer monitors or on any conspicuous place in their room and read it daily and engrave the words in their minds.

Thanks Allan for your valuable insights. I expect many more to come.
