| I would like to hear actual examples of affiliate program earnings. It is very inspiring to hear actual dollar figures earned by successful affiliates. Could you please provide information on average monthly earnings from affiliate programs, perhaps accompanied with information such as monthly web site traffic numbers, click-through rates, etc? Thank you. |

I dug up some stats from 4 of my sites for last month.
Site 1: 25,654 unique visitors, $1,259 revenue.
Site 2: 26,542 uniques, $998 revenue.
Site 3: (free hosted) uniques unknown, $274 revenue.
Site 4: 14,254 uniques, $917.
These are keyword-rich, information-rich sites.
I think a very reasonable target for your first site is to aim to generate $300 a month, or if you have lots of persistence, $500 a month from 500 visitors a day.
I'm giving these figures partly because every beginner demands figures and partly because they're nice round figures, easy to remember. That doesn't mean they have much relevance to what YOU can achieve. That's up to you. It's possible to earn a lot less than and a lot more.
Your success depends of a wide variety of factors, such as the niche you choose, your writing ability, how convincing your writing is, how many good links you get to your site, etc.
If you choose an overcrowded niche you know nothing about, you're likely to struggle. If you're fortunate enough to choose a niche you're passionate about and which isn't very competitive, you'll find the going easier. If it's also a niche which has high pay-per-click prices for AdSense revenue, you should have an excellent chance of doing well.

The thing that strikes me overall, is that the unique visitors seem high, but the revenue/visitor low...
Sites 1 and 2 are averaging about 4 or 5 cents per visitor, which means it would be difficult to buy traffic for the average visitor. Considering we are led to believe that free SE traffic is often the most targeted, it might be even harder than it seems.
I realise these are general groupings, but it is possible to make the same total revenue with many less bought visitors. It all comes down to whether you'd rather spend more time up front creating content (but let things run themselves), or spend a little time monitoring PPC campaigns for the few pages that are converting well.
Remember, SBI has strong PPC and tracking modules, yet no one ever seems to talk about these...
You have to admire the way those tracking links are set up. Full linking benefits, yet comprehensive click tracking, even with browsers with referrer disabled.

I was discussing affiliate marketing 101, giving examples of affiliate marketing 101 websites. I reckon buying advertising is 102 or 103.

Yea, considering the minimum for Adwords is at 5 cents per click.
The trick to make PPC the most worthwhile (as you well know Charlie) is to attempt the visitor to join a mailing list, where you have an attempt to earn back that 5 cents per visitor over time.
That certainly makes it easier than trying to get an instant return on investment if your sole revenue source for PPC traffic is commissions and Adsense on content pages.

The problem is tracking it all far enough...
If you know any dastardly villains who still refues to provide tracking codes for an affiliate program that converts well, pass on your frustrations...

Last quarter we had an affiliate that made $20,000, this quarter that affiliate is heading towards the $30k figures.
Probably because our payout is so darn high of $17.5 in CJ.

Blimey, $17.5 per click would be high. 
Seriously, your posts are starting to read like a series of subtle self promotion. People round here see lots of people pop in to try and hook a bit of easy traffic, and the only people who fall for this sort of "tactic" are likely to be more of a support burden (assuming you offer any) than bring in any sales.
Why not offer some real wisdom from your side of the fence, rather than just slapping up posts that contain less text than your sig? If you aren't prepared to add some real value, who's going to take your program seriously?

The free-hosted site was built in 1996. The others in 2002 and 2003.
