Post subject: Overuse of the keyword?
|
|
|
I just finished building this site, I optimized it to rank high in SE's for this keyword (I hope). I used the keyword a total of 40 times out of 665 words on the page so that would make use of the keyword on the page is about 16.5%. My question is did I use the keyword one to many times? Should I lower how many times I use it, or is this page likely to rank high for this keyword?
Only about 2-4 people seem to know about SE optimization for this keyword (I checked), should I be ranking near them with this kind of page?
Another question is I used the keyword in the headline twice, is it better like that or better just once, for example lets say 'happy' was my main keyword and 'face' was my second which headline would be better?
"Happy Face - Best Way To Be Happy"
"Happy Face - Best Way To Have A Happy Face"
or
"Happy Face"
Thanks

Cassie,
The primary thing to keep in mind with keywords is SE's view them differently. What may be ok at one SE, may not at another. Also, some SE's place little or no important on keywords at all. Same with the page title and heading tags.
Experiment. Do some pages as you have that one, some with less, and some with keyphrases in different locations within the page. Then see what happens. I do recommend you use a keyphrase density tool to check your pages as they are designed to look at your page as an SE would, which can be quite different from the density you and I would find just counting words.
My favorite is:

Hope this helps,

Hello Cassie.
Another reason for varying keyword densities is that the SE algos are fine tuned on an on-going basis. In other words, what is the best density now, might not be in the future, but could come back again even later.
By writing different pages with different densities, over time you should always have some pages popular everywhere.
Also, remember that keyword density never was as critical at Google as some places, and is becoming less important generally.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
