Hi
I am just getting under way building a site. I have a fair understanding of marketing and promotion. My problem is the mechanics involved. I need an a to z explanation.
I have an ebook on my hard drive I want to sell on website. How do I get it to a download page starting from my hard drive? First, how do I get it on a webpage and make it downloadable?
Everyone starts with the process of ftp-ing to site. I haven't even gotten far enough to ftp. I need process from the very beginning to end. A to Z.

I have been all over the net looking for a tutorial or advice. What I have found assumes you already know much of what you should do.

I would appreciate greatly any help. Either here, or you could email me at myfunzrlo@adelphia.net.

Many Thanks
Myfunzrlo

The simplest way to sell an ebook is to do it via ClickBank, which charges a fee of about $50, plus a percentage of each sale. As well, affiliates can find your product at ClickBank and promote it for you, for a commission.

When you sign up as a merchant, ClickBank gives you instructions.

Hi
Myfunzrlo here
I guess I was unclear when I posted about setting up a download page.
I am talking about resell rights products.
I have resell rights on the products. How do I get them on a website page, include them on my website, and get them set up for dowload and payment etc.

The mechanics (implementing the process) is what I need to know. Every body on the net talks theory. Nobody actually explains the process of setting this up. What steps to take to make it actually work.

So, I have resell rights, and the product stored on my hard drive.

I may want to refer to product or pre-sell it in my content on my website, Or feature a graphic with accompanying text and a link.

Can't I link to another page on my website where there is another full
blown sales page/order page, and link that to a download page also on my website?

So exactly how is all of this done? Or if you know somewhere you can
refer me for this information ( in simple a-z instructions).

I need the download for "dummies" version!! Yes, I know how to download things, but I don't know how the process works from the other end.

You need more than a download page.

I assume you're going to sell these books. To do that, you need a way of collecting people's money, a payment processor. The simplest and cheapest way of doing that is ClickBank, which has thousands of products in its marketplace. ClickBank collects the money for you, charges a small fee and sends the remainder to you.

Have a good look round ClickBank and at Harvey Segal's ClickBankGuide.com.

In the ClickBank marketplace, find various products, look at their sales page and in your browser click on View/Source to see their HTML. If you look at several sales pages, you'll see a lot of similarities. I'm not suggesting you copy their pages exactly, but you'll be able to learn useful things by doing this.

If I may pose a related question here:

On the sales page usually there's an incentive for visitors: "Order by [date here] and get the [product] for only $20, 30% off from the normal price". My question is, what script is used to dynamically insert the [date] in the sales page. For example, I want to add 4 days from the current date in the offer. I would assume it would be a server-side script and not javascript, since visitors can disable javascripts from their browser.

Many thanks!

to myfunzrlo:

* You first need to have a web hosting account to ftp your ebook to your web host where it "sits" on the Internet. You can sign up with a free website provder with ftp capabilities to get a feel of things.

* Once you have signed up, you will need to get the ftp address of your site which youll need to connect with your ftp client. Usually it'll be something like ftp.yourdomain.com

* You can download the trial version of CuteFTP, an FTP software at:
http://www.globalscape.com/downloads/cuteftp.asp

* Once you run the software, a wizard will start that'll enable you to connect you to your website. You'll see two panes in the software. One on the left is your hard drive and one one the right is the your web host. Browse to the directory of your web host where you want your ebook to sit. Then browse to your ebook on your hard drive and click the "upload" button.

* People will now be able to access to access your ebook using the address:
http://www.yourdomain.com/EbookDirectory/ebook.exe

the step by step is as VishalRao explained.
well it's not as Hard as you think... if you can find a computer guy around yourplace.. just ask him for small help..
These are the skill set you need to do wat u r asking..
in the order
1. Creating a basic html page(including hyperlink, adding content etc).
2 Knowing how to FTP.(it's as simple as Vishal Explained).
do one thing go to www.xthost.info it's FREE site where you can do some basic uploading practice.
1. create an account there.
2. go to www.download.com, search for filezilla. It's FREE FTP software
3. install the Filezilla. and then click on add sites.
4. YOu'll be asked to put basic info on your site like your FTP URL
which is ftp://xthost.info (for free site n practice)
5. uncheck the annonymous box.. and put it in your username and password which you got from xthost.info
6. press on apply and open the connection.
Now You'll see a window divided into 2 panels.
Right panel is the window which will show u the contents of your xthost site.
left panel is the window which will show u the contents of your hard drive.
Now find the file you want to upload in left panel and right click n click on upload.
it's simple.

If you can do this much easily.. then You'll be able to create download pages, thank you pages which you need in order to sell your resell product from your site.

Now after you practiced. get a host and upload your content there
