lets say you spent 4 hours researching a product and you decide to write a review on it and someone happened to read it ,

now they are motivated and love the review so he/she clicks on your link and goes to the product page from walmart . ( just an example )

the problem is before he/ she buys the product many people will type in the search engine "walmart coupon code " to search for any coupon codes to save money ,

so when she types walmart coupon code in the search engine she will fall on another site with three links that have walmart discount coupon codes

she clicks on the link and you just lost your commission , somebody else got commission from your hard earned work .

there are many coupon sites that are jam packed with coupon links that look like link farms with no preselling whatsoever ,

the reason why im writing this is because ive got an email from one of my viewers telling me that she loved my review and how i explained the product in detail and she also told me that she got a coupon code from another *** site ( i never saw the commission )

i emailed the affiliate merchant and told them about it , im still waiting for an answer, its totally unfair .

for those of you who have product review sites youd be surprised on how many commissions you loose with these coupon code sites .

You do the preselling and they get the comission .

many online shoppers search for coupon codes right before they buy online .

How do I know , well type in dell coupon , target coupon or other big stores in OVERTURE tool box and youll see how many people are using coupon codes to shop ONLINE .

How about doing a JV with the coupon site? You place their code on your site after the review and you two split the commission 50-50. This was offered to me for one of my blog sites...

Why don't you email the coupon sites and see if they are willing to go that route (a JV).

the product i reviewed costs more than $3000 , its a piano keyboard , it took me a whole week to learn all the functions, why in the world would i share my knowledge and my traffic with a coupon site ?

im very upset at the merchant for giving these coupon codes wiithout notifying me .

i bring them lots of quality and targeted traffic , its totally unfair .

Not to minimize your anger, which is totally justified, but can't you (i) ask the merchant to give you the same coupon code or (ii) figure out what the coupon code is, then tell your visitors to click through your link and enter code *** to get the special discount--that way you get the commission?

thats exactly what i emailed them about and im still waiting for the reply ,

the problem with coupon codes is that you always have to work at their mercy, i like automated sites which you dont have to update all the time .

i have 12 sites and i really dont have the time to keep track of coupons and their expiry dates ,

i asked them if they can give me a coupon that has no expiry date , still waiting for an answer .

well may be you can ask someone to create a software which keeps track of it or semi automates the stuff?

You are losing some solid potential commission... You cud spend on gettin some script of this done...

Sorry to hear about what happened, but nothing was done "unfair" here.

Honestly, I wouldn't say "many" people search for coupon codes online, I know I don't and I don't know anyone in my immediate families and friends that do either. It sounds like you may have some blinders on from it happening to you once.

And you can't blame the other individual for providing the coupon code, they're providing a service, after all; the person wanted a coupon and they provided them one.

You could easily provide coupon codes if you like, but there's nothing wrong with updating them every so often. Regular ole' affiliate tracking links go bad all the time; you need to keep on your toes.

Nothing is promised or guaranteed in this business. In fact, I'd wager that other searchers may have came to your site and purchased through your links after leaving someone elses site where they learned about the product. In addition, you've probably lost some sales from spyware/adware programs that hijack your sales. And users may even delete cookies or not use them, so there's more sales you've lost.

My point is, there is a cost to doing business here. Brick n' mortar stores have thefts, damaged products, and spoilage all the time; it's expected too. The affiliate business is not immune to this either. I wouldn't waste much time or energy on this issue, it's going to happen whether you want it to or not. Focus on creating content and IBL, everything else is out of your hands.
