Hi again,

Site is ranked within top 5 on most search engines (top 1 in some cases) Almost every page is indexed.

I see where I've created a problem with my existing site map now.

Will tinker with the HTML on a new site map at once. I'll let you know if any obvious differences pop up.

Thanks heaps.

I just want to confirm that registered members of the forum can vote without commenting. No doubt you can also return later and comment separately if you wish.

I promise your vote will always remain totally private. To the best of my knowledge, there's no way for me or anyone else so see who is voting what.

Integrity is always very high on my list of priorities when I hire staff. No one will be digging into the php script and trying to figure out if there's a way to match votes with usernames. If it is IS possible, the only person on the team capable of trying would be Chris Pearce, and he's far too busy, frantically preparing for third-year computer programming exams.
He has very high integrity. He won't do it.

So if anyone has been holding off because of privacy doubts, please go ahead and vote.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reassurance, Allan.

I must admit, judging from the polls I have seen, the turnout hasn't exactly been wild. And I started several myself, so I know the question was interesting. Wink

OK, so you have to be registered to vote, but aren't there enough registered lurkers out there who are bothered enough to click a voting option?

It hardly requires much effort (compared to posting).

Just my thoughts,
Charlie.

Perhaps the problem is that we have a high percentage of forum members who aren't earning anything yet and don't want to say so?

Or perhaps we have a few lurking super affiliates who don't want to boast?

Who knows?

I'll mention the poll in the newsletter and see if that increases the response.

I think the poll was a really good idea.

I voted for the "under $250" category. :(

Not that depressing really. I have only had my website live for about 4 months now, and I haven't added anything new to it in two months. And it only has about 7 pages.

I have been averaging 9 sales a month, for a total of ~ $160 a month in income. Mostly my lacking results is my lacking work on the site. So I know I can do better.

So there you have it... my $0.02

That helped me. Somehow I missed this last week....

I'm always curious as to why so many people are so frightened of discussing how much money they make. It's truly the world's last great taboo.

One of the reasons I like to follow the advice of James Martell has to do with how open he is about what he does and what he makes. While he doesn't disclose *everything* of course, you can very easily find 48 of his 70 sites, and he will occasionally discuss the amount of his affiliate checks from Commission Junction, which was his primary source of income early on.

Now I'm not trying to call anyone out or put anyone down in any way. I do understand that privacy about one's income is very much a personal choice, and I respect those who choose to keep it to themselves for whatever reason they have chosen to do so.

It's just one of those little things in life that has always fascinated me. Then again, when I get to that $10,000/month category, I may feel differently. Wink

Just so I don't look like a complete hypocrite, my vote in the poll was "$500 - $1000 per month" Smile

Mike

I'm one of the less than $250 gang. But I find it very encouraging that (currently) out of 33 votes, 5 are making more than $10,000 a month Smile

And I agree, this is a great poll.

All the best,
Larry Chamberlain.

Personally, I'd take more encouragement from the mid range earners.

To be brutally frank (whoever he maybe), I just don't believe that 5 out of 33 means anything. Yes, there are high earners who read Allan's newsletter and lurk here (and there). But equally, there are more than a few people who like making ludicrous votes in polls just for the fun of distorting the results.

I'm not saying you believe this, Larry, but just in case anyone was wondering...

15% of affiliates in general do not make $10K+ net a month! More like 0.0015% I should think.

I find it an excellent poll, too though. Smile

All the best,
Charlie.

Yep, I guess you have a point there.

And you know very well who Brutally Frank is, and that he is locked away for his own good. Maybe he will be out in time to do pantomime this year!

All the best,
Larry Chamberlain.

Goodness me, is no subject safe from the ravages of your comic imagination? Laughing

Actually, I read recently that Frank is now back home, and doing well. In fact, before he left (!?), he was asking if I had your home address so he could "pop in for tea and a chat". Rolling Eyes Wink

I said no, but judging by that last post, he'll probably be "asking" again pretty soon. Laughing

See you at the pantomime,
Charlie.

I am in this catagory because there was not a smaller catagory. Sad

I'm also a newbie (to the affiliate world AND to this forum) I was reading ASSOCIATE PROGRAMS NEWSLETTER 234 and stumbled across the afore mentioned survey. I decided to take a look and here I am.

Oh... and I did vote.

That means you have started. Next step: list three thing you can do to improve your site's income and do them!

Excellent advice. Imagine the results if you made a 1% improvement to your business every day for the rest of this year.

I met a multi-millionaire once who used to ask himself before going to bed every night: "What have I done to improve my business today?" If he hadn't done something to improve it, he'd go back downstairs and do something. It didn't matter how small, as long as it improved the business in some way.

If you're not sure where to start, ask questions. There are wonderful, helpful, friendly people here who will help you.

All the best.
