I have been looking at some or your sites here and am left with a sad realization. My site not only looks like an amateur. It PROVES that I don?t know what I am doing.

I don?t know if we are supposed to ask this or not (I guess you will tell me if we are not supposed to) but do we ever evaluate each other?s sites and give constructive feedback? I know the site www.widows-and-widowers.com is not tooooo bad because I have someone that has volunteered to help with it. But www.widowedhearts is my own creation.

After looking at your sites I realized my creation is Frankenstein?..

Don't beat yourself up so bad. everyone has to start somewhere.

No site design stuff... I looked at both sites quickly.

Questions to ask yourself.

- what is your focus
- what do you want the site visitor to do?
- do you plan on making $$$ from it? How?

back up and ask yourself... If you think the site does what you want.

A site's success or failure is not... in my opinion ... is not based on design. The measurement of success or failure is based upon having the visitor do what you set out to achieve.... MOST WANTED RESPONSE

Reread the 3 questions above, and seriously ANSWER those questions

ANY site recommendations are worthless without having some answers up front.

What do you expect? I keep my early site design experiments under lock and key, I can tell you. Smile

I like the idea of templates, too, but I'd get a book on beginners' HTML and CSS so you can make small changes to yourself.

Also, you might like to start pulling people's source code apart for inspiration. Just don't copy it straight (without permission), that's all.

Hope this helps,
Charlie.

I certainly wouldn't go that far...

As an aside, considering the end result, I often wonder just how "horrific" the good doctor's "Frankie beta" version was. Rolling Eyes Wink

to view source code, right click in a text area on the page, then choose "view source"

Notepad pops up with the source code.

Thank you Debs.

And thanks everyone for your input. I think you can tell for my sites that I am an expert on the subject matter but clueless on the building a site part..lol

Hopefully, the sites will generate some income AND help widow and widowers at the same time.

I will keep everyone updated!
