The main alternative to Adsense will be Yahoo when they release it to their smaller publishers.

The major issue with alternatives to adsense is that they don't have:

1. The number of advertisers that google does
2. The advertisers pay less per click than on google
3. The relevancy of the ads is lower

Depending on which alternative you use, you'll find one or more of these issues cropping up.

We are all waiting with bated breath for when Yahoo starts expanding their contextual network from beta into full release.

For now, perhaps AdBrite could be a alternative as they claim to have a decent number of advertisers. However, intitial tests with them have proved disappointing as they don't have the relevancy that adsense does. (and thus no-one clicks!)

Adsense works.

If you are denied access then there is a reason for it. Instead of looking for "alternatives" make a site that is worthy of adesens participation.

If you can not participate because you are in a country where it is banned. Then you would be best served looking at the affiliate revenu model and not worrying about Adsense. As Adsense is just one way to make money. There is a lot more money to be made in affiliate marketing than Adsense. The average Adsense webmaster makes about $50 a month. Not much.

I think the best alternative to adsense is to get free google adwords...

That's impossible. Your post and your signature file are deliberately misleading. Something you pay for is not "free".
