Post subject: PR4, no traffic, how come?

Hello,
I have a site up with about 100 pages of real content, been building links and that effort has resulted in the site being awarded a PR4 since the latest google dance. Yay.
If only that PR4 would translate into real live visitors to my site I would be happy. Any thoughts?

if u look around this forum many will tell u that PR is something not to be taken too seriously :p..
sometimes I think it's the toy google made so that they could play with ppls' mind 
Having High Pr doesn't mean that u get traffic... I know this after getting experience personally.. one of my freind also had bad experience(he had PR 4 from last 6 months and just lately his traffic increased).
I have a blog which has PR 4.. and all of the traffic(almost 95% may be more) comes from yahoo...

Hi,
thanks for the reply's. PR seems to be Public Relations only indeed. Of course my site is still tucked away in the corner of the web, not getting any eyeballs.
Any suggestions to get actual visitors besides
- getting more backlinks (incl article distribution)
- create more content

In order for your pages to rank well for any given term, you have to optimize them for those terms specifically.
Every page of your site should have a "Primary Keyword Phrase" - which is the search term or keyword phrase that you would like for it to rank well for.
When you are getting inbound links, you want to get links pointing to your internal pages, as well as your main page (and also use good internal navigation).
You should use your "Primary Keyword Phrase" as the Link Text in those inbound links. This is how you do "off the page optimization" and help the search engines understand what each of your pages is about.
So if you wanted to rank well for ABC Product, then you would link to your page like this:
ABC Product
Instead of just: http://www.x.com/product.html

thanks for the advice. I do have my anchor texts well optimized though. Good point about the deep linking. Pehaps it's time I do a bit of work on that, thanks! |
