I just joined an affliate program. and all i am given are button links. Can someone tell me how to make it a text link?
Actually there are two questions in this.
1. if i have a button link, can it appear as a text link?
2. how do people display (on forums) say 'click here' and the link itself is something else. ie the long link.
I hope this is somewhat clear. I am a bit confused right now
I am just learning all this stuff too. What I have found it to look at the long banner link and just that the part that starts with the htt:/ and end where the affiliate numer ends....at least that works sometimes.
I can't get the banners to work half the time. I cut and past them into front page and then when I hit preview all I see is the code. So what I wind up doing is saving the pic and importing it and then using a text link. It is very confusing to me way sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

Hello Nikki.

To answer your second question first, a simple text link of the form...
Code:
<a href="real-URL">Text to be displayed</a>
...will display "Text to be displayed" (the "anchor text") on the web page but when clicked, "real_URL" (beginning "http://www.") will load in the browser.
Regarding your first question, if you just substitute the URL from the button code in to my example text link code above, you can create a text link for the program.
Careful though... check with the program that this will track properly (give you the commission) and test it.
This is only a very simple example of a text link. I suggest you get a book on learning HTML from your local library, or search "learn HTML" in Google.
Who knows, you might even find it fun.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
