Post subject: Free tool to know where you stand on Google

Found out about this neat little web-based tool on another forum and had to try it out.
http://www.googlerankings.com
Ewwww, some of my rankings look better in SBI with the little >30 than they did on here lol But it did answer my question about exactly where I was so now I know what I need to get those listings higher.
Hope this helps someone else.

Be careful -- automated queries are against Google's TOS. In fact, the PR for that page is greyed out. Google can ban your IP from making any searches if it's the IP adress where those programatic queries come from.
A better, safer but more complicated tool is http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/backlinks/
It's safe because it uses your Google API license (getting one it's easy and free, a matter of minutes), and it's better because it keeps your historial rankings so you can compare them, but of course it takes a bit to learn to use it. And, by now at least, it's free. |

| Well, it seems that the reason of the grey PR is because the page is new, no becuase any penalties, but even so, no API=bad idea. |

Hello fishyking.
Thanks for the information...

Is it still safe if your ISP assigns random IPs each time you log on via a dial up modem? I think most dial up ISPs still work this way, but I might be out of date.
Cheers,

You needn't worry about automated queries since it's the server that makes it not your site. Besides... the site is not accessibe at this time, you were probably seeing the tests.
Until Google allows it to operate it will remain inactive. |

I preferrably use RankDummy available on download.com. Very neat interface and let me know where I stand on google. It shows ranks of only 4 SEs (google, lycos, altavista, looksmart). It helps in saving a lot of time.
