I have a couple of small sites hosted with cheap host with 5MB space, but planning on making a big one for my next project but I need to get the right webhost with enough MB, so my question is how many kb's equals 1 MB? I'm sure it a simple question that all webmasters know but I'm still new to this site building and still learning my self.
Thanks
Cassie

If your pages are text based (with a few small shared graphics) you will take a long time filling 5MB of disk space.
In round figures, you would have room for 500 10K pages or 250 20K pages. This is a lot of text-based content. Your shared graphics will probably only take up about 100K total, but I haven't included them in the rough calculations. Still, I hope you get the point.
If your site starts getting a lot of traffic, bandwidth might become an issue. Shared graphics might become more important here, if not cached. The only thing to watch with some cheap hosts, are claims such as "unlimited bandwidth". In practice, if someone puts too many sites on a shared server, performance can be affected for everyone.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
