Bloody lovely. I take a couple of days off, and look what happens. Thanks to everyone who rushed to my defence...
Please excuse the absence of emoticons - I'm hurt.

Excellent. At least you managed a call to action.
But how to write copy for "people like me"? It's an improvement on the previous version, but even better would have been to just include a large text area where "we" can write our own buying copy.

47 bucks (do you still say that?) is hardly priceless, even with the plastic, but help...
I've already been sent decoding instructions once (but I lost them). I get as far as L. Is the carpet worn out yet? How about the "MAO". I dare not speculate...

Personally, I'd go incognito (they don't have red buses)...
I wouldn't pitch him at all. I'd ask him what he'd like to get out of the service and then reassure him he'd get it.
A sort of charm meets challenge, approach. I remember Steve Jobs of Apple allegedly saying to a top exec he was trying to poach from a (very) famous softdrinks company: "Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling fizzy water, or do you want to change the world?"
This might have worked with Ken, but he already has changed the world (did I mention charm?) so it's a bit late now. Maybe remind him he has, or something.
Assuming, I'd been granted the audience, I think hard part would be over...
As my good friend Des Carter once said: "A salesman is often the biggest objection a buyer has to overcome." Get the t-shirt printed, and keep your mouth shut.
Cheers,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

It's for reasons like that I don't like to make all of my sites public. People always trying to take down those who reach the top.
You sound almost boastful... |
So that's how one can reach "the top" or with sites like digitalprecision.net I suppose. |
I'm confused by this... how is digitalprecision.net breaking any rules? |

AdSense says in its Terms of Agreement that we all agreed to when we joined adSense, that pages should not be created purely for the purpose of generating revenue from AdSense, or words to that effect.
Found it ...
https://www.google.com/adsense/policies
"No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant."
To avoid being dumped from AdSense, digitalprecision.net should quickly add some affiliate links, or a product for sale, or a newsletter, or something! Fast. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Also, how is that site any different than something like these:
[Large unnecessary quoted section deleted. I've put quotes around these URLs to unhyperlink them. Why would you want to give those sites PageRank? Admin.] |

So you mean there are actually a few pages which do comply regarding that issue? I don't see the relevance though...
There are also some other terms where these sites fail to comply. I'll copy-paste a few:
Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site.
Create a useful, information-rich site and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.
Sites must respond adequately to support requests and enquiries of their users.
Your site must not contain broken links and must be launched, functioning, and easily navigable.

I purchasd Joel Comm's e-book recently and here are what I think about his book.
1)some of the informations in his book are the ones I already know.
2)there are some useful information that you can use to improve adsense performance.
3)but don't expect the same results he's enjoying. It won't happen unless you get tons of traffic to your site and that's the major key for his success.
My CTR was near double digit untill a few months ago. Since Google changed thier adsense policies, not only adsense profits dropped but also CTR was down.
I started placing adsense ads(large rectangle) aligned to left, making it look like a part of the texts. This adsense ad technique seem to be the best, according to many adsense guru.
But, somehow it has not proved to be successful to me,yet. This is one of the recommended techniques Joel's using. Since I started using that format, CTR has dropped almot 40%.
So, it works for someone and it doesn't work for others.
I'll wait and see what happens, but it looks like I may have to ask for a refund.

I hope it won't take too long before Wally pays 'InstantAttention' to the man with the many aliases...
Sigh.

Hi hear you Erwin
To get this thread back on topic...
the main part of this ebook reminded me the importance of tracking and testing with Adsense...
After thinking for a while, I dedicated a free report on the subject (URL in the signature).
I hope you all enjoy it...
Cheers

Hey Coffee,
I recommend ditching the Google search at the top of your column. Those clicks pay very little. If anything, move to the bottom.
Instead of flowing the text around your ad, replace your code with a centered 368 x 280 and put the text underneath.
Try the new AdLink block above your sidebar menu.. it looks like you've got some space there already.
Good luck!

So I am checking stats for the year and I noticed something that I was doing wrong. One adsense shape which I though was doing well only had a 1.7 ctr for the year. look at your stats long term too the one you thing is great could actually stink. My readers had a choice of clicking on that 1.7 or my 14 ctr on the same page. One is now gone, no choices , one less = more ctr than well you should figure that out. I expecting the 14 to go to 20 ctr hmmmmm
Thanks Joel |

Hey Jeremy,
Did I reveal my CTR? If I did I shouldn't have as it is against Google's TOS!
However, it is true that some sites receive much greater CTR than others... design, visitors, content.. so many things figure into it!
Best,
Joel |

If you create product focused
websites you'll get a high ctr.
Articles should be about specific
products and models, model numbers,
write reviews, clear concise 100-200 words.
Talk about the features, benefits, advantages
of the specific model.
Then a more specific google ad should appear,
then logically after giving the customer what
they came for, they click through.$$
Websites that offer more how to info,
I don't know about, haven't built one yet,
but I think the ctr for google ads is not
as high, its high going to an affiliate link.
About customer personality, if you target
a younger audience snowboarding they like
excitement fast action, maybe they like to
click around, surf around. Still should have
short specific product reviews though.
A site about home decorating where the site
teaches them something or explains, will
click-through to the merchant more, I think.
Just IMHO, but I do think short, specific, product
reviews get high ctr.
Hope this sparks ideas,
