When researching on the Net in the past, I'd go to a bunch of web pages, and bookmark the URL, or maybe print.
Now I highlight only the part of the page that interests me, and press a button.
The words I selected are copy/pasted to a text file, and then the URL is printed at the bottom of the selection, a divider is printed, the file is saved and closed, and I'm returned to the browser. Takes a couple of seconds.
The end result is a text file that contains just the specific text I wanted to save from my research session, and nothing else, all in one place. Great starting place for writing articles.
You can automate just about any sequence of actions you can think of, and then trigger that sequence with a key press or menu selection etc.
It's got a great text macro feature. It spits out many lines of perl code at the click of a button, and it prints them the same way every time, saving me from my own typing errors.
I could go on for an hour, and I might!
I've heard Apple will be building something like this in to an upcoming version of the operating system, rumor says later this year.
I'm sure Windows has similar features/apps, but I don't know what they are. But if you're a Windows user, and have read this far, consider tracking these features down, they are very useful time savers. _________________ Free Email Discussion Group For Your Site
