Hi I am from the caribbean and I am thinking of purchasing SBI to build a website. This will be my first website ever built and to make things interesting I would like to make some money too .
Anyway enough rambling I would like to know if there are any SBI users out there from the caribbean who are successful using this product and also to know, if there are any legal issues involved as I am not from the US.
Thanks.
BTW I Love the help Debs, Charlie, Lord Lordstrom and everyone is giving to newbies and expectant SBI purchasers I have learnt alot

I'm not from the Caribbean, but I'm not from the US either. If you are planning to use affiliate programs or AdSense to earn money via a content site (rather than sell your own product or service), the legal issues should be minimal.
Also, SBI! comes from Canada (but travels rather well). Nothing to stop you hosting in a foreign country. I use SBI! and various American hosts, but I'm based in the UK.

Glad you are getting some useful information!
Keep on posting - and try to get the threads to go the way you'd like them to. It's much more fun that way.
I for one often learn most when I think I've just "answered" someone's question, but then another poster says something quite different. There is rarely (if ever) one right answer.
"If two of us agree on something, one of us is unnecessary."
That's what I like about this forum. It doesn't take long before someone reassures me how "necessary" I am!
All the best,
Charlie.
P.S. It's well worth registering. You can still remain as anonymous as you like! _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

Hi Guest,
I also live in the Caribbean, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
I bought 2 SBI packages over a year ago, but I don't have my sites up yet... several service projects side-tracked me . I'm getting my act together to be able to devote time and focused energy to developing my first SBI project...
I've been in the Internet industry, as a consultant and entrepreneur, since 1994, in New York and now back in my country. I've worked with dozens of interesting projects from the information architecture, design and business angles. A couple of years ago, working with a local telecommunications company and an international Internet portal to develop a business plan and e-commerce model, for instance, I charged and got paid US$117,647 in a period of 4 months. I worked as a consultant to the first ever online newspaper, from North Carolina, which was updated every 6 minutes while the New York Times was not in the Web yet, and wrote a major report for newspapaer companies wanting to get online, back in 1996, priced at US$1,000 per copy. In 2000 and 2001, I invited to the country and introduced to two different Presidents of the DR and other government officials, the CEO that took Terra-Lycos public in NASDAQ and his successor, a former General Electric CEO for Europe. In the "e-commerce for the rest of them" industry, I fairly know my ways...
Over the last year, I have researched thoroughly different Internet marketing strategies, programs, software packages and, perhaps more importantly, experts and so-called experts in the related fields.
There is no doubt in my mind that Ken Evoy, SBI creator, and Allan Gardyne (I hope sincerely that you keep getting well, and better and better, Allan) from associateprograms.com and a strong SBI supporter, are two of the greatest minds around in the Internet industry, and two great leaders characterized by their honesty and integrity. That's why, to quote SBI's business slogan, "e-commerce for the rest of us" is the way...!
I don't have my sites up yet, as I said, but I've studied the Action Guide, worked with the Manager (an SBI tool), researched topics, etc. and my personal conclussion is that there should not be any reason within the SBI framework, if you follow instructions well, not to make money, even lots of money, and have a wonderful time doing it.
I encourage you to buy SBI at once and start working with it... if it also serves, I've made the same strong recommendation to my son, 26, until recently a senior designer with an internet NASDAQ-listed company, and to my daughter, 24, an information systems engineer.
Four final (interconnected) phrases of advice:
1. Select a SUBJECT that you're really interested in and passionate about;
2. BUT, look at the demand figures;
3. and THEN to the profitability ratio;
4. AND write, write, write focused content... SBI will take care of the rest...
I don't know in what caribbean island you are from (if you're a native Caribbean) but yours is probably a rum producing country... so... when you make your first $100, let me know, I'll toast to your continuing success with the best rum in the world, Barcelo Imperial, made here in the DR, naturally! (BTW, I don't think caribbean rum or rhum is a good keyword concept... or is it?)

what do you mean by minimal legal issues.
I mean the same issues as running a conventional business from your own country.
No specific legal issues regarding SBI! or hosting abroad, as far as I'm aware - with the possible exception of advertising regulations in the country where your host is located.
If you start selling tour own products or services the sales taxes come into things - but apparently never for affiliates.
Hope this helps clarify.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

Hi Curious,
No problem...
So... we're at least four working from the Caribbean... Curious, St. Lucia; Sandra, Commonwealth of Dominica; Puerto Rico; and, the Dominican Republic... I'm sure it won't be long before there is a whole bunch of us SBIers in the region...
Do you follow Major Leagues Baseball..? Pedro Martinez is playing a crucial game today!
Best regards,
Nelson
P.D.: When you reserach legal stuff for your site, also look into payment methods... for instance, we cannot receive payments from Paypal here in the DR, we can only send them to other countries.
Go ahead and get site build it! I'm from St Lucia and I bought Site Build It! about four weeks ago. I'm very satisfied and I've built 15 pages so far.
You shouldn't worry about any law problems. If you will be selling affiliate products, all that's going to happen is you recieving a check at the end of the month or whenever appropriate.
In case you're wondering, I'm from Lafeuille, Monchy. Very popular too.

Hi there,
Just registered! I posted above as a guest (MC). Just thought I should post again so my profile etc. could be displayed. I'm delighted to find out about other SBIers from the Caribbean.
BTW, I would appreciate a review of my three week old site. (I started a specific thread on that). It's my first time building a site, so I guess I have a lot to learn.

Very happy, estatic even, to find out there is at least someone in St.Luica who is using SBI, and interested in affiliate marketing.
Your site is very well thought out and the layout good. I wish you continued success in your online endeavours.
BTW I am curious why are'nt you promoting your songs/lyrics on the site.

Curious, Mantius:
Here I am... envying you... Now you'll probably get together somewhere in your beautiful island and share tips and secrets face to face and, of course, outdo the rest of us in the Caribbean... Worst... you'll probably be writing a song or two about it... and who knows what else you'll do to us too when Curious has his site up and running
I'm to going to ask it out loud: IS THERE ANYBODY FROM THE DR LURKING OUT THERE WHO'S ALREADY BOUGHT SBI OR IS CONTEMPLATING BUYING IT? Ten valor y sal a la vista de todos...
If things don't get any better for me, just know that I already found out how much is an airplane ticket to St. Lucia...
Good luck to you, guys!
Nelson
P.D.: Mantius I'll be checking out your site ASAP.
not to worry if I did not find anyone else to help me I would grab (Figaratively speaking)you to me and start to bombard you with questions when I bought SBI (that is if you did not mind...). BTW I an a girl
