Post subject: What are "Blogs"?
|
|
|
I find that blogs are the "in" things now. But, what are blogs actually? Recently I found that a person using blog has achieved lots of links to his site, when a Google link command is given. That site had only 3 sites linked to it previously, i.e., till he started blogs. But I have absolutely no idea about what blogs are.
1) What are blogs?
2) Which is the best site where a blog can be created?
3) What URL should be given to the blog? - a name that is similar to one's website? Please cite an example.
4) How blogs function?
5) How exactly blogs help people? |

Hi Williams,
Go to "http://www.blogger.com/home" it's a blog run by Google and is absolutely free. Set up as many blogs as you want.
As for a name, something similar, if not exactly like domain name.
As for how it helps so much, Google runs this and any link seen in it by Google and other search engines is immediately targeted, heavily, by the spiders.
How to take full advantage of that ... get the Blog and Ping videos down below.

Does everyone need to create many blogs? Creating one blog won't do?

If the creator of the blog already has a site hosted on a web server, then will he keep the blog on his server with his website or on the the server where he is creating the blog?
What is the difference between Private and Public blog? Which is more beneficial? |

A blog is just like a diary or dated notice board in the form of a website. Just like any other type of website, you can have as many as you like (from zero upwards), depending on your preference.

You can get software to host it on your own server as part of your site or use a third party blog hosting service. You may have more control over the former, but the latter may have extra benefits with getting your main site indexed if you link to it.

Come on mate - have a guess?
A private blog is like a membership site - it's by invitation only. You might have to pay, but either way the blog will most likely be PW protected.
Anyone can access a public blog.

If you just want traffic, a public one. Otherwise, your imagination is the limit.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

I wouldn't call it blogging software. They are run using a CMS. Content Management System. Some CMS's are specific to blogs (Such as WordPress and MovableType). Others are more generic (such as TextPattern and e107).
A CMS allows you to post articles via a web interface, and you don't have to know HTML.
Blogs are the current lates "buzz" in affiliate marketing. The big thing with blogs, is that most bloggers link to each others blogs. Thus creating a network of links. The SE's are currently crawling these blogs on a frequent basis, so by having a blog, you run the chance of getting Google to crawl your site quicker and more frequently.
To really have a decent blog, you should be posting between 2-3 times a week. If you want your blog to make money as an affiliate site, then keep the theme just like you would with a "regular" website. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

So, if the creator of the blog wants to discuss mainly about the affiliate products he is preselling and along with that also wants to talk about his services and products he sells (not related to affiliate business), then which blog should he go for - public or private?

mikeherman says blooger.com is a good blog hosting service. If a blog created on this server will be linked to other blogs?

Are you here talking about a private blog? Can't the same things be done on a public blog as well?
Questions:
1) How can one put his website's link on a blog, which is linked to other blogs? i.e., how can a person have a blog linked to his website? At present I'm interested in getting lots and lots of traffic.
2) Can blogs once created be deleted? While creating a blog, if it is made as a private, can it be made public later, if required?
3) Usually, what kind of information needs to be posted in blogs?
I'm asking so many questions at a time, because I don't know anything about blogs and am too much curious to know about them.

| Are blogs still a good way to develop links now that Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, along with the majority of the major blogging sites are using that new "no follow" link? |

I believe this command is more geared to allow BLOG owners to prevent readers from posting links in their Comments that can pass PR. _________________ Robert

The answer is simple, do you want a lot or a few potential buyers? _________________ Robert

What is the next step just after creating a public "blog"? What are the things that need to be done or to be taken care of just after the blog is created?
If a person uses a blog for affiliate marketing, what name should he give to the blog? i.e., while creating the blog, what name should he give to the URL of the blog? |

Follow the same rules for building a regular affiliate site with your blog. About the only difference is going to be your navigation structure. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Ok, but if there are not major differences between a blog and a site, then why creating blogs? Also, if it is a public blog, then it will be accessed by many people, who will post their opinions and messages. Will that hamper my content and the products I want to sell?

How different the navigation structure would be?
Also, how to link to my site from a blog? Is there any way to put a site's link on an already existing public blog belonging to someone else? |

Blogs are the latest fad. They are basically your online diary, but you can put whatever you want. So you can write about orchids, or horse racing, or whatever. As to the comments from other people, just don't allow them to comment. It's your choice.

Most affiliate sites follow a tiered linking... meaning one page leads into a more targeted page into a even more targeted page. Blogs are generally linked chronologically. By date and/or by category. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Will the content of the blog be always in an article format?

That becomes a private blog, right? Then if a link to my site is given from this blog, traffic will be very limited. Am I right? But, I would like to have lots of traffic to my site.
Question: Can anyone give me an URL of a blog that is used for affiliate marketing so that I have an idea? |
