Post subject: Should I target these keywords?
|
|
|
I normally will not bothering targeting a keyword if the competition is too high. I look up competitive KWs in presearch.net and scan the PR and number of inbound links.
Almost all of the SERPs have high PRs and too many inbound links for me to out rank those sites anytime soon. However, every once in a while something odd appears.
Sometimes, usually nestled in the middle or end SERP position, a site is listed with a low or 0 PR and few if any inbound links. In addition, these listings often are positioned above SERPs that have a much higher PR and numer of inbound links.
These sites should be easily outranked with better optimization and a few good inbound links. I wouldn't even think about targeting these KWs based on the strength of most of the rest of the competition.
But, now I am wondering if I should give them a shot anyway and target ? |

What Keyword do you want to target? If you let me know the keyword I can do a little research for the tops ranking site like what SEO work they have done to their site.
I think one of the most importnat is the tilte tag. Use your keword in the title tag and make sure the title tags matches the headline text for the page. _________________ PublisherGate

Two things to consider here...
Firstly, a zero PR (with a high ranking page) is probably not a true reflection of real PR - just the toolbar lagging behind real internal Google PR. It most likely indicates a page that has jumped up the ranks relatively recently, so it could be one you can learn from.
Secondly, there is more to getting good rankings than just high PR, though it does help enormously.

Base your decision on the overall state of the top SERPS, rather than individual sites.
Hope this helps,
