Post subject: Google's AdWords changes
|
|
|
I just did a search to find the current AdWords discussion .... and didn't find one! My apologies if this is being discussed in another thread and I just didn't find it.
It looks like Google is going to limit sponsored links in any search so that only one of the sponsored links will go to a particular site.
So, for example, if 10 affiliates are promoting a particular ebook via AdWords, only one of those ads will show up in a single search result.

| Yes that correct. They are now only allowing specific URLs to only be shown once on any given page, hence it won't be necessary any longer to state you have an affiliate site in the ad. |

eBay has sent an email to affiliates that basically stated: "Uh oh, we're not sure what to do now but we're thinking about it"

Here's an article in ClickZ with different opinions on the changes:

Irrespective of what the experts say, from an affiliate's point of view, I quite like the changes overall.
Surely this will force everyone to use what is generally a more effective method anyway. A slight thinning out of the unimaginative, can but help.
This is one thing I like about Adwords compared to general PPC - a bit of guile can beat a wheelbarrow full of cash. Anything that moves the advantage in favour of the imaginative (rather than the rich or powerful) has to be a good thing for most of us.
Just my opinion,

I keep reminding myself not to consider someone an expert just because he or she was quoted in an article.
I not only agree with you and like the changes, I think they were past due.
I look at a Google search results page as having two columns - so called "organic" search results on the left and sponsored ads on the right. Google has just acted to improve the right column. Now it's time to work on the left column to remove the junk.
