Post subject: ClickBank Payments -- Interesting

I love the ClickBank concept but I'm growing less enamored daily, which is a bummer. On top of insufficient stat reporting IMHO, merchants eliminating commissions by offering PayPal, a merchant who took the review WE wrote of their book and posted it on their site removing our affiliate link and publishing it without our permission, we just learned today that the payment minimum is not what it seems. Sure you can select 100, 10, 200 or whatever. But if you have a large commission and the buyers were in two states, you don't get your commission check. According to an email from Clickbank, you only get your commission check if you have customers who come from four distinct states, provinces or countries. We screeched and got our payment but I prefer not to screech. Might want to keep this in mind if you are doing a "local" site -- Clickbank would not be the network to use.
Other than ClickBank and Amazon -- where the commissions are too small in our estimation -- is there another option?? If not currently, is anybody cooking one up? <nudge> _________________ www.dogownersdigest.com & more

I've never heard that before - very odd.
I have used clickbank since 98 I think (right after they started up). I get my check from them every 2 weeks like clockwork.
They do aggravate me though. Guess they believe in sticking with something that works. Wish they would improve tracking, stats, communication, direct deposit etc. |

Note that in a follow-up from ClickBank, they explained to me that their multi-state policy, which is spelled out online, is a security procedure. When prodded, they did send our check. _________________ www.dogownersdigest.com & more

That requirement of sales having to come from 4 different locations before a check is issued has been around a while.
I seem to recall the original intent was to deny a check to someone who opened an account simply to use his own affiliate links to buy products at a discount. In theory, he could buy hundreds of products via his own affiliate links, but unless he generated some sales from others, he wouldn't get a check.
I don't know if the policy is still in place or how strictly they enforce it. If someone complains, I suppose it's easy enough for them to see the affiliate is actually generating sales as opposed to just repeatedly using his own links.
