Hi,

Some of you may have noticed that Clickbank's hoplink (embedded in aan email) was rather "unstable" the past few days ...

The reason for this is because some irresponsible Clickbank
affiliates are using "exit traffic exchange" or "automated
scripts" which are creating a bunch of bogus requests and
clogging up Clickbank's bandwidth.

As a result, they had to temporarily disabled email hoplinks
while they find a solution.

Below is an email I received from Clickbank.

------------ start ----------------
Several affiliates are referring exit traffic or
generating lot of popups with our hoplink in it and
causing a bunch of bogus requests. The extra hits are
coming only from some IP's. That's why we are having
trouble figuring out how to manage it. It sort of looks
like certain people are getting mousetrapped on exit and
flooding us with multiple direct hits.

For now, we have had to block the top 30 offending
affiliate links, and also all popup traffic. That way we
can still manage the majority of our clients. At any rate,
the new systems should solve the problem. As soon as I get
some details I will pass them along (later today I
suspect).

Thanks for your patience!
----------------------------- end ------------------

I would advise AGAINST using any kind of automated scripts
or traffic exchange ... you won't get affiliate sales
that way and it will just hurt every Clickbank affliate and
merchant in the long run.

Do the old fashion way - write an endorsement, an article,
advertise in ezines, etc ... just don't use automated
scripts - the only one who will "see it" are the tech
guys at Clickbank and you won't be very popular with them.

cheers,
Adrian

Thanks, Adrian. Much appreciated.

I'd been wondering what was going on.
