Post subject: Porn site linking to my child toys site

Today I checked my web stats with awstats, and when I looked at the pages from where i got my visitos, i found a page from a porn site. Apart from the fact that i can't see the slightest reason why a porn site would link to a child toys site, i am wondering if i have been pennalized by google.
Google tootlbar started telling me that my page rank is 0 a week ago, though i had page rank 2 before that. I tried to contact the webmastes of that site and ask him to remove the link, but the site is jappanese. So, I emailed google and told them about this. Now I'm waiting for a response.
What do you thing I should do? I am sure that that link is VERY bad to my site.

No site that links into you can hurt you. Google wouldn't allow for this because it would cause issues with competitors trying to ban competitors.

did you chech the porn site and saw a link to your site.
there is a software that visits thousands of sites and make
it appear that comes from a site you choose.
That way the site owner will build traffic from the webmasters looking which that site is like you did and link popularity because some stats page are indexed by the search engines.

When I try to go to that page, it redirects me to the homepage. It requires membership or something, i don't understand jappanese. So, I haven't personally seen the link placed there. Maybe a surfer was on that page, when he typed my site's address. All I know is that a visitor to my site came from that page on the porn site (i won't post it here, because i don't want to help a porn site grow his link popularity).
The idea here is if that link (wich might or might not be there after all) can harm my page rank.  I know google interprets links as votes, and usually in the real life when somebody you consider as a "bad" person tells you that doing something is good, you tend to think that doing that thing is actually very bad.
But i think robert's point of view is very good. After all, the best thing is to get as many quality link, and a bad one will pass unnoticed:P

ok, this can't be just an accident ar a robot. I got 19 visitors from that page this month. So, a link to my site does exist an that page.
WEll, at least i get more traffic. Too bad it's not targetted:P

are you sure you only got child toys on your site? 
Doesn't mather who links to you, it just gives you more traffic, so be glad some one is linking to you. Good luck with the site! |

Not from a SE point of view, but how about "guilt by association"?
People get a bit twitchy about this sort of thing - especially parents of young children. Imagine if your site became popularly associated with porn?
I wouldn't go advertising the fact, however innocent you are.

Google for "referer spam".
Its very simple to write a script, that visits your website with a faked referer url. They send these spiders around the web to get their urls in "last 20 referer lists" and google indexed logfiles.
Don't worry about it!

I don't think you'll have to worry about "guilt by association" if they're only sending you 19 hits a day.
I agree with most here ... don't worry about it. It is, however, very interesting to see where your traffic comes from. I find myself spending wayyy too much time dwelling on a few strange referrers every now and then, also!

Thanks for the replies. Maybe for you, 19 visitors isn't much, but for me it looks pretty impressive. Maybe because I'm just in the beginnings. Anyways, the most important things are the clicks, so it doesn't matter from where they come.

these hits where generated by spiders (programs) so there where no real visitors.
