Post subject: Another reason for PSA's on Adsense
|
|
|
I've seen several occasions when someone suggested the reason a site is displaying charity ads instead of real ads is because the Adwords inventory of ads for the keyword(s) has been exhausted for the month.
I have Adsense ads on several very diverse websites and seem to be seeing a lot of charity ads lately. It would be a big coincidence if the inventory for this diverse group of key words was exhausted at the same time.
I read somewhere that Google would be performing site maintenance this weekend - hopefully that is the reason so many ads have disappeared. If not, I'm at a loss to explain it.
They also seem to have found some new charity ads. One of my sites is now displaying ads for pregnancy & weight gain, literacy in Cambodia, etc. They look ridiculous considering the site topic.
Anyone else seeing a lot of charity ads this weekend and last week?

I had the same type of thing happen to me when I first
started using adsense. What I noticed was - my file
names were not descriptive enough for google to
determine what types of adwords to put up.
Here's an example:
/frugalarticles.html
This page would only bring up charity ads
but.....
When I changed the file extension to:
frugal-articles.html
Great adwords came up!
Try working on your file extensions to see if that helps
any.
Hope it helps,
Pearl

Pearl,
Thanks, but I don't think file names are the problem. My file names were appropriate to begin with.
I was getting very relevant AdSense ads for the first few weeks and now they have changed to charity ads and I made no changes to the pages during that time.
