I ran across this tonite. Another website has optimized a page for the name of my website (apparently from what I can see it is part of a keyword stuffing strategy). But the page of course has no link back to my site. Anything I can or should do here? _________________ David Wilding

Well, I'd imagine it would have to do with how specific or unique your site's name is. If it's something like "computer hardware reviews" then I'd say you're out of luck. But now it 's something like "microsoft" then you could have something.
It's really hard to speak on this without seeing it, but as long as they aren't trying to pose as your site, they're pretty safe.
Have you tried contacting them? _________________ Robert

My site name is www.debtattack.com. They have used it as a keyword on their site. If you type it into the search engines they come up at #2 in the results. My logs show that the traffic for someone typing in my domain name has dropped to almost nothing when it used to be about number three or four on the list of my referrers. _________________ David Wilding

I love the way you put that!
I have a horrible feeling that there isn't much you can do to force a change in this case. Having said that, you could try a polite contact. It's possible a human might make the change out of good faith.
Certainly doesn't seem right to me, whatever the law says.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

I have a similar problem, if you see this sort of thing as a problem.
A bunch of web sites have optimized pages for "associateprograms" or "AssociatePrograms.com".
It's not the sort of tactic I'd use myself, but I just shrug it off and move on.
Someone who has typed "debtattack" into a search engine and arrives at some other site by mistake is probably going to feel annoyed and not in the mood for buying something from that site. So it's probably a bad tactic for your competitor to use.
Worrying about things your competitors do can drain your energy. Your time would be better spent adding more keyword-rich articles or getting more links to your site. _________________ Allan Gardyne
