Hi everyone. I would like to know what this means. Linkshare has this on all of their affiliate programs:
Pays affiliates based on a maximum $25 threshold
this is very vague...does this mean with every seperate advertiser you have to earn at least $25 a month to even get paid anything...or is the the SUM of all of your affiliate programs together reaching this 25 threshold?
Also, does this mean that you do not get any money at all for up to $25 or is it just carried over to the next month's pay?
This sounds like it could be rip off and I have noticed that none of the Commission Junction programs have this (or so I have not noticed).
Can anybody help me with this? Thank you in advance!
Cj pays on aggregate earnings of all merchants you earn from. Linkshare merchants pay based upon their own program and program limits.
So you could have 3 merchants at CJ, earn $9 from each, for a total of $27, and get a single check from CJ for that amount the next month.
With Linkshare, you need to meet minimum earnings for a merchant to get a check from Linkshare or that merchant. So if you earn $9 from merchant A, and $30 from merchant B, you will get a check from merchant B (if their minimum threshold is $30 or below), the next month or so. Linkshare will issue checks on behalf of some merchants, but not all, some merchants pay direct. Earnings not meeting the minimum threshold are carried over until you reach the threshold or the program/merchant discontinues the program.
For new affiliates, I recommend CJ over Linkshare because of the aggregate earnings threshold and direct payment. This gets money into your hands faster. Overtime you may want to add some Linkshare programs, or other non-aggregate networks and their programs, in order to offer better recommendations to your visitors, higher conversion rates, better payouts, etc..

Hi Debs,
thank you for your reply! So what i am understanding from you is this: you DO eventually get the money, right? Even if it takes three months or something. I was thinking that if you do not reach the $25.00 threshold then you do not ever get anything and it resets every month. THAT would be a rip off. If they are waiting until you get a certain amount of money first I would understand this since it takes a certain sum of $ to just cut a check. Am I understand this correctly?
Also, what are some other aggregate or good non-aggregate networks that I should be aware of?
CJ is the best aggregate network that I know of, and the one I deal with 95% of the time. There are a couple threads on here you can search for listing a variety of networks. For most, that I know of, payment is not aggregate.
Hopefully someone with more experience with the other networks, can fill us in, or you can check them out via their sign up and FAQ pages.

I agree, CJ really is a great network. LinkShare is okay, but not nearly as advanced as CJ.
Another program with aggregate payments is ClickBank. Their system is very basic, but also very flexible. As an affiliate you can freely switch between any of the products they sell just by changing your link. Any commissions you earn, from any and all products your promote, are credited to your single account.
You can also choose the minimum payout amount per pay period. I think $10 is the lowest and $1,000 or $5,000 is the highest. Of course, if you don't reach the minimum in any given period, your balance carries over to the next.
A downside is that they take out a fee per check ($2-3) for processing or something. I can't say I like that very much and it kinda forces you to set your minimum payout to a higher level to avoid fees.
Hope that's helpful. _________________ Webmaster Wear Amusing t-shirts for webmasters, online marketers, and internet junkies.
