Post subject: Affiliate hosting recommendations needed
|
|
|
I'm new to building an affiliate web site. Can anybody recommend some good web hostings(I have a budget $10/mon)? The web host should be able to cloak the affiliate URLs, which means the web host should support sub-domain, domain forwarding. I need mailing list, email auto response and search engine market tools too.
Is LunarPages a good choice vs. Ipowerweb?
Thanks very much for your advice. |

I use Globat for hosting, 5gb a day transfer (75 a month) and a ton of space, I only got it for teh transfer cause I don't really need all that space just the unlimted databases and trans. The address is www.Globat.com _________________ Looking for a HIGH payout affiliate program? Sell any of our hundreds of professional web templates and earn 40% commision! I'm with a reasonable priced hosting company, which is very reliable and I have never had any major problems with them. I have been with them for 3 years now.
I then hosted games on my site and found that they were costing more to run than what I was earning from them. So I then went to find a cheap hosting company and I came accross Globat. So I now host my games there, which I find is alright. So much alright that I then went with them for a new site that I was going to launch. BIG MISTAKE!!!
I launched the site and found that the server that my site was on was slow for my site to execute. In other words, it was taking about 10 - 20 seconds before my site even started to load once you had pressed the enter button on my computer. I then told them about it and they just replied to my email with some answer for something that I didn't even complain about.
As my site was built with search engine friendly urls, I found that they didn't work. Whenever I tried to use .htaccess my site was bringing up a 500 internal error and I asked them why that was happening and have you got .htaccess installed. They said they haven't got it installed but they will get it installed soon.
I asked them how long would it take. Would it take 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, a month or more.
They replied and they didn't give me an exact date. They just said it will be soon.
Well once I heard that, I new that I couldn't run my site properly until they had sorted that out, which could take days, even weeks.
So I then brought more hosting from the first company that my other sites are on and went with them instead.
I thought that waiting around is no good as I prefered to buy more hosting and get the site hosted and working straight away so that I could start bringing money in as soon as possible. Not waiting and waiting.
I found that Globat's customer service and speed was not all that good.
I still kept the account and added some games to it instead to see if they would load alright and they work fine. But other than that, I found hosting a site with them were just a bad idea. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

If you are able to afford slightly more, for $11.95 per month then Thrillhost.com (part of Midphase) will give you 1000MB(1GB) of space, and 20GB transfer. You can host unlimited domains, within your space and bandwidth limits. While 20GB transfer is not the most you can get for your money these days, I find that this deal is great for my several starter sites (being a newbie myself). The best thing is that it is so easy to set up a new account each time you want to put a new site online. Been with them for several weeks now, fast servers and no down time yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Also, I guess as it's a reseller account you could even try to sell part of your allocated space and bandwidth in order to get back at least the $1.95 that you would have been over your $10 budget. If you did do that, your customer would have their own access and control panel which makes it very convemient indeed.
Hope the above helps.

| I recommend Lunarpages. Yes Ipowerweb does provide more attractive package but I have unpleasant experience with their customer service. To me, customer service is very important. |
