Stephen Mahaney's Planet Ocean is a really extensive source.
He wrote the book "The Unfair Advantage Book On Winning The Search Engine Wars" and updates it every month. He also publishes a valuable monthly newsletter called Search Engine News, which is a must-read.
Some of things his company recommends are controversial, such as cloaking, so you have to make up your own mind which advice you take, but at least you'll be well informed.
For a much simpler, easier to understand introduction, I recommend Ken Evoy's "Make Your Site Sell", which has a 300-page section on search engine optimization. http://makemy.sitesell.com/myss
...and all the other people Charlie recommended.
Plus Mike Grehan. He interviews the guys who work for the search engines - but you have to wade through a lot of stuff to find the gems. _________________ Allan Gardyne

In addition to above, i use many forums too. they are a great source of information for me. I use webmasterworld, searchguild, seochat and highrankings. I find these very useful.

Hi Jason,
I would just like to pick up on what Charlie & Allan mentioned, I recently started a new campaign with the help of Ken Evoy's SBI & MYSS.
Also I have been studying Sumantra's email course-his service is a little expensive for a beginner, but I hear about him all over the net as a real "Search Engine Guru", Plus I have become one of his affiliates & beleive me he really does give you a lot of help & guidance, just as Ken Evoy does with his affiliates.
Plus Mike Grehan. He interviews the guys who work for the search engines - but you have to wade through a lot of stuff to find the gems.
I have read a bit of Mike's stuff, and although I am sure he knows what he is talking about, I have to be honest and say that I found it heavy going.
I found it more than a bit "academic" for my taste.

The one caveat with forums is, that you never know quite how well "qualified" a poster is, in many cases. When it comes to SEO, a little knowledge can be a very dangerous thing, I think. It's vital to know who it is doing the advising.

Anyone out there have a website with high listings
under the keywords they wanted?
Pause and think about that. If you want to find a page that ranks well in a search engine, all you have to do is type a keyword into a search engine and see which page is No.1.
For example, if you go to Google and do a search for "cheap computers" or "cheap computer" (no need to use quotation marks - most people don't), you'll find that Rupert's site is still No.1 and No.2.
However, remember that OFF-page factors are very important, as well as ON-page factors. If Rupert wants to retain those No.1 and No.2 rankings, he'll probably need to get more sites to link to him with that key phrase in the link.

I don't know, but beware. Lots of marketers make all sorts of extraordinary claims about getting "insane" traffic to their sites. If you haven't already, I recommend you install the Alexa.com toolbar and when you see extraordinary claims made have a look at the site's Alexa.com ranking. I've seen extravagant claims made about marketing sites that aren't even in the top 200,000 sites. _________________ Allan Gardyne
