Hi John,
I had a look through all the possible Logo ideas. I'm just wondering why you don't want to tie in one of your beautiful Orchid Photos as a Logo and just use a matching font for the information details.
Now, this is just my thinking But because of the Nature of your business why not use a Real Orchid (of course re-sized as a logo) which to me delivers a Powerful message. Personally, I would concentrate and develop a Tag Line to go along with an incredible photo like...

Again, because of the Nature of your business I would consider changing the SBI template to perfect and incorporate the whole incredible look.
Here's a color psycology thread that you may want to take a look at.

Just my thoughts
All the best

I've been watching your thread on Sitepoint John, impressive designs! The graphic artists there astound me.
As for your voiceover ... do you have any local universities? See if they have a drama department, or even the local high school, to see if you can find a gem of a student there.

Phil I am extremely opinioned when it comes to logos. I am sure a picture would draw the eye very quickly. But that can also be a disadvantage. No one part of the logo should standout; the eye should be drawn to the design as a whole. I want my whole logo to be an eye stopper. And the folks over at SitePoint look like they just might do it.
The logo is next. If you check the SitePoint thread two of the designers have incorporated the logo into a complete webpage today.
The tagline I have been using occasionally is: Your source for World Class Orchids.
As for color I get opinionated there too, as you can see in this old thread

Debs never crossed my mind. Tried to find a graphic designer at the local collage before I went to SitePoint. That went nowhere. Budding actors, a whole different mind sit, I will give it a try. Your still batting home runs.
Thank you both,
John |

I love Phackers design also, but it is especially nice because it allows you to still use the SBI templates and keep your site building simple.

Hey John,
Glad you've found what you're looking for at Sitepoint. I've been hanging out there for a few years now and there's a great group of talented people there.
Another site people may want to look at for freelance work is http://www.designoutpost.com/ It was developed by a fellow Sitepointer, and lots of the talent from the Sitepoint forums frequent the Design Outpost competitions too.
Keep up the great work there!

Hello Allan,
As you can see I picked the logo by huhknee. phacker?s work was also very good. So good that I am sending Pat an orchid also.
I was pleasantly surprised that you thought this thread was interesting enough to include in the newsletter. So many like Gary, Debs, Phil, you and many others have posted ideals that have been a great help to me. It feels good to be able to return a little bit. Now I won?t fell like a leach when I use the next good ideal that comes along.
For those of you still checking into having some design work done. I should tell you that after checking out eLance, Rent-a-Coder, DesignOutPost and SitePoint it seemed that the best designs were being done at SitePoint with DesignOutPost coming in second. With the reasonable prices available at SitePoint it was an easy decision to go there for the logo.
The good part about doing a design contest is if you are like me with just a misty ideal of what you want, the large selection of work helps you focus and solidifies those misty ideals.
The bad part of a design contest is that it put me under what I felt like was an obligation to respond as best I could with my opinions of the different designs. Again having to think about the designs and put my thoughts into words helped me visualize the look I was after.
If you?re going to do this don?t gloss over what you consider the ?bad? designs. Telling the artist why their design will not work is another focusing aid for you and all the designers working for you.

Hi John, Thanks for all the tips. They should be useful for anyone who's building a site.
I think they should be specially useful for any SBI users who want to improve the look of their site by using the "upload your own look and feel graphics" feature and don't want to take the major step of using the "upload your own HTML" function. _________________ Allan Gardyne

This is useful John, thanks. I'm looking in to this, and had no idea where to go. Now I do. Appreciate it. _________________ Free Forum And Ezine Hosting
