Hi all,
I'm having trouble with my Autoresponder based in the UK - SmartAutoresponder, a division of the Web Marketing Centre. For over a year it's been fine - I've sent test messages to myself before sending a tipsheet out to the list, and I've sent ezines out without any problems. I have 2 free opt-in tipsheets going out from this source.
Recently I decided to change to a different (double-opt-in) autoresponder because of the spam problem - and to protect myself - but when I tried to send a final tipsheet out from SmartAutoresponder, I had problems.
First, although the autoresponder indicated that the test message to myself had been sent, it failed to arrive. A second and third test message (those 2 sent 8 hours apart) also failed to arrive.
I emailed SmartAutoresponder tech help via a form on the website and again via the support email address - four times, in the end. I also faxed them (no response) and finally found their phone number via Alexa and left a message on an answering machine (no response).
On August 27, I decided to hit 'send' for the tipsheet anyway - but when I went back to the autoresponder site today, September 3, I found it is still queued. Now some of my subscribers are starting to ask where the tipsheet is.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Anyone else using SmartAutoresponder who is similarly having problems? I was wondering if it was something to do with the SoBig worm clogging their servers... but I have no idea.
Now I need to move the whole list to my new autoresponder - but I'd like some way of contacting them first to explain the reason for the move and to warn them that a double opt-in message is coming. Any suggestions on how I might do this would be VERY welcome.
Finally, this has made me wonder whether I'd be better off buying an autoresponder script to install on my own website(s). Would anyone like to comment on the pros and cons of doing this rather than using a 3rd party?
Thank you all.
