Hi, everyone...
I think I'm ready to take the plunge and ask for a review...
I've been working alot for days now trying to clean up my HTML, my graphic file names, optimizing my content and links for the search engines, and shrinking images to make the pages load faster. I'm not done yet, but I'm ready to read what some of you think. I'd especially like to here what SBI vets have to say...
As an experiment I made the normal font black instead of very dark green like I've been using up till now. In the beginning, I thought making the text very dark green would give my pages a subtle touch of Irish style. But now I'm thinking I've just been making it harder on myself and hurting my chances of SE ranking with unnecessary HTML. Between the background and the link text being green, maybe black is fine for the rest of the text...and maybe easier on my visitor's eyes too?
Does lots of colored font interfere with spiders and SEO?
2) Some of my pages still get irrelevant Google ads or worse PSAs! I've tried to optimize them not only for my niche keyword, but a couple of more generic keywords that get good bid amounts. I also contacted AdSense, but got a canned response. What throws me off is these pages were getting targeted ads a couple of weeks ago.
Some of the other castle pages have a couple of off-target ads, but some are targeted.
3) What can I do to get spidered again? Some of my pages have still NEVER been spidered, and some haven't been spidered in over a month. I thought changing the pages, adding content, etc. would get the spiders back. Guess not...
I know on some Tier 2's I mention things that aren't on the site yet, but I still have alot of content in the works. Unfortunately, off-line life and tweaking existing pages have made the progress of adding new content very slow lately. I want to fix what I have, get an idea of how I'm doing so far, and then use that to do a better job as I build new pages.
3) I'm averaging about 20 unique visitors per day. The most visitors I've had in one day is 57. But the site debuted January 13, so I guess that's not bad. My Alexa ranking (for whatever that's worth ) is 135818 last time I checked. I've thought about taking the SBIExpress advice of requesting inclusion on the "Results" page, but haven't done it yet. I'm not so sure I should yet be considered a "success" like that page presents those sites to be when I KNOW my traffic is still so low. It's an ethical thing for me. But I'd like to know what you think...
4) I have "0" Google PageRank for now, but do have several incoming links. Some are exchanges from new sites like mine, but several are also from good PR sites. So far, that has not translated into any PR for me.
I know I need to work on getting more links in from high PR sites, but it's hard to organize all my tasks to get that done. Between tweaking/fixing what I have and writing new pages, that is. I do spend some time on getting links in, but I feel like it's haphazard. Any advice on getting more links in a less disorganized and time-consuming way?
These are just some of the thoughts at the forefront of my thinking right now, but I would like feedback/advice on anything that occurs to any of you if you look it all over.
Since I'm spending so much time fixing what I KNOW on my own is wrong right now, I may as well invite you all to give me more fixing to do!
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to look it over and offer their opinions. This forum is a true asset to internet marketing and I wish only the very best to all of you!
God bless,

Debbi, Your site keeps looking better and better.
There's an affiliate program which was listed in the AssociatePrograms.com directory recently which looks ideal for your site. It's called Tasty Irish Treats.
It pays 15% on some very Irish looking products.
If it turns out to be good, you can earn a two-tier income by recommending it to other Irish sites.
You could set up a new section for Irish products, with one page about each product. That would give you lots of new keywords. _________________ Allan Gardyne
