Ok.. I have taken the first step in making my site pay for itself. I have added a google ad banner. Please check out the site and let me know if it looks out of place or not.

I would love to change the width to a % to better fit the page and add a border to the box. I have been notified though that modifying the ad is against the rules though. I guess setting links to open in a new window is out of the question.

Now my focus is content and search engine ranking.

Am I missing anything here? Am I headed in the right direction?

Some of you more experienced in this than I please respond and let me know.

Thank you for your time

LitePack

I am not an expert on this, but when I opened your site it took me longer to figure out what it was about than I usually stick around if a site doesn't catch my attention. Based onthe domain name, all I could think of was bear, lite beer, lite pack....

Your title tag says:
Quote:
<title>Information on camping, hiking, Alabama, tips and tutorials, picture gallery, outdoor photography</title>

Is there any way you can put something like this up at the top as a headline where the Google ads are now? Or put it to the right of "LitePack.com" in the blue page header?

To me, ads at the top like that are as bad as banner ads, and I seldom stay on a site that has them (especailly without a description saying what the site is about) The message I get, or reaction I have, at sites like this (with ads at top) is that making money from advertisers is more important than providing quality info so it's not worth my time to stick around.

I have heard that the tower ads (vertical) get better results. I don't know, as I have no personal experience.

Others views may vary. That's just my two cents.

I don't have time to read more. It looks like you have worked hard on the site, and I'm sure there is good content there. So my comments are only about first impressions, not the quality of your content.

mdr02125 - thanks for the reply.

i want to setup a tower ad but i want the ad on every page the only what i could come up with that until i figure out something different is to have it at the top for now.

I am thinking about going though the entire site and completely redoing the layout. Just have to figure out what layout i will have.

Again.. thanks for the comments looking forward to hearing additional imput from everyone else.
