I've been searching out an answer for this unsuccessfully, and thought may be a brighter mind or two might be able to help.

Internet Explorer v 6.0.2800 (WinXP) often won't let me View Source. It just won't do anything. Sometimes closing it helps, sometimes rebooting helps, sometimes clearing the cache or cookies and closing IE helps, but if any of these day they "help" for about 5 minutes. There are some things i like better in Netscape, but the notepad/view source IMHO is easier and better viewing in IE.. I'm running McAfee CLinic (anitvirus) and a firewall, so don't think it's spyware/scumware.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mark

Mark,

I also use XP/IE 6.0 but I never have any view source problems.

Even though you use virus/firewall protection you should regularly run disk cleanup, defrag and Spybot Search & Destroy (Free) http://www.safer-networking.org/

If you keep having problems with XP regarding view source etc. you might want to drop an email to SBI'er Marc Liron of http://www.updatexp.com/ check out his excellent SBI site and sign-up to his newsletter. Smile Wink

All the best
Phil

Hi Mark,

You're not alone. We have experienced the problem on a number of machines here with no apparent cure other than reinstalling the OS. I've switched to FireFox now though so everything runs smooth, and you get color coded source with the ability to only show the source for the selected part of the page - Very nice Very Happy

Hello Mark!
It happens to me sometimes.
Did you try deleting all the temporary files in IE?
I can't "view source" when my temporary files are "full"...weird!
Let me know if it works! Very Happy
