I recently started an affiliate program for my web hosting business. I provide the affiliates a banner with the affiliate code embedded into the banner link. I am getting very few clicks on these banners. Are banners the best method for affiliates to get visitors to see the program they are promoting? If not, what is a better method? Examples would be helpful.

Text links are usually better received by viewers, and in particular in context content links where an affiliate might review your offerings and provide links to order or more information. Banner blindness is a common term I've seen on many forums when discussing whether to go with text links or banner links.

Thanks for the info on the text links. Is there any special wording in the text links that works better for most affiliate programs?

I would say it would have to depend on the topic as well as how you use it in context. Testing and tracking would be instrumental in deciding which links work best.

Some will swear that "Click Here" is awful, others will swear it reams in the clicks ... it's relative Smile

What you really need are affiliates who love your service and write rave reviews of it. Such endorsements will work much better than banners.
