Hi folks,
Just joined the board.
After about 8 months of hanging around in different forums and reading through a maze of newsletters (have to unsubscribe about 80% ) , ultimately decided enough is enough and bought SBI 2 days back and am raring to go.
Kind of have a feeling that this board is going to be one of the most useful forum for the affiliates .
Personally I feel as my location is in India ,it has some limitations in joining some affiliate programs like those by ClickBank's ,would like to have suggestions from you folks in future .

Welcome, Mou!
You'll find if you write a polite, friendly letter to some affiliate merchants they'll let you become an affiliate even if their rules say you can't.
Anyway, with many thousands of affiliate programs to choose from, it shouldn't be a serious problem.
One of the best things you can do is build an interesting, useful web site that looks professional and has a reasonable number of links to it. If you do that, I think most merchants will take a quick look at your site and be happy to have you on their team.
Oh it really feels nice for a newbie to hear from someone like your stature.I am a subscriber to your newsletter and it is one of those which I open as soon as I find it in my inbox.
I have bought SBI just recently ,have a plan about a site concept, but as Ken says going through the Action Guide ,let's see where it leads me to
I want to work seriously to build my own online business eventually and would be glad If I can atleast reach a stage of phasing out my day job by the end of a year or so

Hello Mou, welcome aboard,
I live in Mexico and share your feelings about some affiliates programs that refuse us, however, i have been building my online bussines based on some programs and i'm having good results.
By example, SFI sent me some small checks to my house in Mexico without any problem, also i'm working on Ken Evoy's programs.
I agree with Allan there are too much programs to join, so don't worry about rejections, just move in another direction.
Best Wishes
Henry Ochoa
PS. PM email me if you want me to share with you some succesful techniques to build traffic and make sales, I'll be glad to help you.

Welcome Mou! You may find that a lot of affiliate programs (for example at Commission Junction) are set up to automatically reject affiliates who are not based in the US. As Alan says, a polite email explaining that most of the visitors to your site are from the US even though you are not, usually does the trick. Sometimes I drop a subtle hint that although they were my first choice, I will most likely be promoting their competitor instead if I cannot promote the program I originally applied for. For the few who don't respond positively - well they clearly don't 'get' the international nature of the internet and understand that an affiliate can live anywhere but create a site specifically targetted to a certain country. Also if your tracking shows where your visitors are coming from you can explain this to affiliate program managers to prove that your visitors are likely to be buyers. I am based in the UK and get rejected by US merchants from time to time, but if all the above fails then there are usually plenty of other good programs to choose from.
Thanks for your tips guys .I'll keep them in mind once I am ready for the affiliate programs.
At present I am on the process of brainstorming session in SBI, my intentions are building a travel site targetting tourists all over the world visiting India.
hello mou
so have u started building ur website? on what theme r u working
tell me is SBI really worth it
can u give us the URL of ur website
i m kinda new to all this.. n i m also from india
we can be frens
u can reply me at nizjain@hotmail.com
You did'nt put up your name ,calling someone by a number seems a bit strange Why not put up ur name .One thing I have learned from the time I have spent online is that If you are trying to build up your business you need to build relationship. Why not give others a chance to help you . Use your name ,It builds relationship without which much progress online is not possible. Sorry for that "gyan" but I speak from experience
Now regarding Your Question about SBI. Yes I have bought SBI and certainly think it is worth the price at least I can say from the few brainstormin sessions I have tried with it . I have a theme in my mind ,You can see it in my above post.I have not registered domain with SBI Yet as I have been held up with another project.
If you are serious about online marketing you can certainly give SBI a try.It is the most compact all in one tool You will find for a very reasonable price. It costs you less than $30 dollar i.e Rs.1500 /month in Indian currency.
However I must say that whatever you do, go for SBI or any other tool only if you are really serious about your online business because it takes quite a bit of your time and yes of course some money as any other business.
And if you are real new to all this, you can get a FREE course about affiliate marketing from Ken Evoy the SiteSell Owner by sending a mail to
tamscheckit@sitesell.net . Though it is FREE it is the best course out there The entire course will be delivered to your email or if you want to read the whole stuff without waiting for the emails in pdf format send me a mail through this foram,I will send it to your email address.
And one more thing never openly use your email address in a forum .You may get a lot of spam mails if you are not careful
All the best
Mou
P.S Forgot to tell you SBI support stuff was excellent.I had a problem which I could'nt understand I mailed them at 7:p.m IST and I got immediate email support from them till the problem was solved.

Hi Mou
I read a few posts by you and recall - not very fondly, as you might imagine - the days when I started working on the Web in 1995. The same problems that plague you today were ones that first frustrated me, then challenged me, and then proved to me that "patience and perseverance CAN overcome mountains".
Maybe we should join forces and write a book on overcoming the hurdles of working online from India. Or form an online forum to help other Indians overcome these hurdles. Or focus instead of offering solutions to people with similar problems.
Whatever...
Let me just say that there is a way, where there is a will.
I've done it - and am sure you will manage too. Just don't give up. Remember - FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION.
Hope this helps
