Of course there is. There is no such thing as a completely foolproof system. You'll have to be a complete fool to try it though, because:It's too risky and you've got too much to loose
AdSense only makes sense if you're thinking long-term and you will get caught sooner or later
You're not taking on Google only, but also the entire network of AdSense advertisers and publishers
A gambling trip to Vegas is a much safer way to invest your time and money, and more fun too
There are soooo many easier, more interesting and more well-deserving targets on the internet _________________ Frank Nordberg

Hi "Guest",
I find that a very dangerous question. And I think you do to, otherwise you would've signed your name.
I believe we shouldn't even discuss this topic, especially because this could potentially hurt Allan's membership in the Adsense program. (HE is far from anonymous!)
Adsense is a business opportunity, and cheating can hurt your business, as you can see from Enron and Ahold (US Food).
Integrity rules!
Best regards,

Guest.
I am not the administrator, but I think I can safely say. This is not an appropriate topic of conversation. You risk getting your post deleted, and possibly your IP banned. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

As usual, out of respect for you all, I let you make the initial comments so that I am perceived not to be too harsh a "censor". I nearly made a comment last night. Now, I am ready to ban this guy but am also pleased to have such positive comments on record to show the respect this Message Board has for AdSense. There is definitely no place for this person's attitude, censorship or not. I have banned the IP seeing there is no attempt at a reply.
Thanks to all for your participation.

Hey guys,
In the world of dynamic IP it is impossible to block someone by IP and expect that to be the end of them... my suggestion would be to block guest's from posting... they can only view in that state. Once they create an account and login then they can post. Only a suggestion though!

It takes allot less time to block an account than it does for someone to create one... so the point is make those people who want to post info that is not appropriate to work allot harder to do so. Then again this is just a suggestion!

and the point is it is to easy to make money honestly (yes, yes I understand the subjectiveness of it all).
I have done both.
I must say affiliate money makes me feel lazy. It really does. |

I think someone needs to get a life...
Don't you have better things to do with your time? This is pretty pathetic.
The best thing we can do is ignore "Guest" from now on and maybe he/she will crawl back under that rock! SOME of us have work to do! _________________ RIGHT is still RIGHT, even if no-one else is doing it....

Kinda ironic making a post like that on the #1 affiliate marketers forum!
I don't know what's "lazy" about affiliate marketing. In order to be successful, we have to write useful, valuable content, find quality products/services to recommend, recommend them in such a way that it flows with the content of our site, which by the way we had to build step-by-step just like any non-affiliate would.
I don't see what is lazy about the countless hours I've spent and I've just begun. In fact, I kinda resent the implication.
Affiliates work smart, AND work hard!
Lazy people make useless posts like our "Guest", in a lame attempt to distract everyone from that work just to get a few cheap laughs.
That's more like "LAZY" to me!
Just my 2 cents,

I'm not game to ask if Members would like to ban guests ... I still feel guests make a huge positive contribution to this Message Board even though some are just trying to self-promote with limited contribution.
BUT I have a problem. I thought that IP addresses were unique. I've just come across a huge problem Our current nuisance has an IP which also belongs to several of our registered users - yes, all with the same IP. Some of these also have alternative IP's that are the same as a handful of others.
This suggests a complete misunderstanding of IP addresses on my part or someone is being very "clever" - sensible one minute, not so the next.
Please share your knowledge of how IP addresses work so that I can make a right decision here!!!

Thanks for the advice - which I'll now remove lest "advantage" be taken of it in some way.
Please PM any further comments to me.
I'll lock this topic now.
And yes, that sort of problem does make me consider compulsory registration .... but not yet.

For the record, AOL, Cable and Wireless, etc. do as is explained below.
Thanks to webmasterworld.com/forum39/628.htm for this information.
It really is up to individuals to do the right thing for the mutual advantage of all if "guests" are to remain allowed.
Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

It really messes up log files - one AOL user who looks at 10 pages might get reported as 10 users who look at one page each. I have no faith in the visitor count and page view numbers I get from my log files for that reason.
------------------------------------------------------------
AOL disgust me. After reading the above messages, I'm even more disgusted. Not only is AOL not the internet, but they go and make things more difficult for the "real" internet.
Here is my problem.
I help moderate --------------------------- a PHP based forum "phpBB 2.0.1." This forum has an IP feature that allows the MODS to see what IP a visitor is posting from. It also shows all other IPs a visitor uses and what other users are posting from the same IP.
This helps us identify "multiple personalities," users that stir chaos by "cloaking" themselves as someone else.
We recently decided on our one and only "first ban." This member was banned for reasons other than having "multiple personalities." but we also suspected him of doing this.
However, now we can't distinguish between our legit users and the prohibited user.
We have several options on how to ban the member. We can ban access to his login name/member name, his registered email address, or the somewhat most effective ... their IP address.
We tried to block "205.188.208.41" Which I now learn, from http://webmaster.info.aol.com/index.cfm?article=15 , is an AOL proxy server. Darn AOL.
I understand we should unblock this IP to allow AOL users? Is that right?
I'm also sure we can effectivly ban his current membername.
but how can we be sure he's not able to re-register again with another membername and email address?
ALSO! does this AOL proxy junk prevent us from accurately determining "multiple personalities."
Can anyone help or give suggestions?
Thanks so much!
