Has anybody tried out Covert Affiliate that claims to get you affiliate commissions by just getting people to view your website?

[URL removed - Moderator]

It seems like a good software, and im on day 3 of their free ecourse.

Just wanted to know if anybody had tried this out.

Im particularly excited about their claim to cloak clickbank hoplinks, which is something i have been waiting for since the new hoplink system came into existence.

Respectfully,
Julia

If you use software that sets cookies upon visit to your site for merchants in the major networks, you are in violation of their Terms and subject to having your account terminated.

This has been a hot topic on ABestWeb.com and the major networks are not tolerating it at all.

Julia, you should remove the affiliate url from within your post. Affiliate urls are permitted in signatures only.

I agree with Debs, most affiliate networks like CJ etc. don't allow
you to set cookies without permission. You will get your account
terminated.

All the best

Its not an affiliate link pid=4 means product id=4 .

for their other products the product id's are 1,2,3 etc

So for example their Hover Ad generator has the link http://www.novasoft-inc.com/hop.asp?pid=2

affiliate links have one more piece of code added thats like aid=***

I guess that explains the outburst from database designer who thought i was promoting the product.

I just wanted to know how well it works before spending my money on it.

Sorry if i have offended anybody.

Thanks for the explanation Julia, I stand corrected. Most times when I've seen the "hop" it indicates an affiliate url so that was where I was coming from.

You can, in some cases, use a cloaking script to make it harder for your affiliate links to be diverted. If you search on the forum for "cloaking affiliate links" or "cloaking affiliate urls" you should come up with some threads on that to help with your understanding.

Depending on the types of products you plan to promote, I don't think cloaking is necessary. If you do Internet Marketing products, maybe ... but for general public products I don't think cloaking is needed, and can actually be harmful.

Most regular posters on the forum know where I stand on parasiteware, adware, spyware etc. as well as Norton Security's ad-blocking. If you do a search for "parasiteware" "adware" or "Norton" you can get up to speed on what's happening there.

The "cookie setting" that Covert Affiliate does, however, is against the terms of the major networks. As I said, they have taken an aggressive stance against it and are terminating affiliates. That includes reversal of earnings. I would definitely stay away from it.

Info for anyone who's wondering what this is all about...

The Covert Affiliate site (the URL is easy to guess) says:

===

Give a cookie and get the sale - tag the person with the affiliate cookie, as soon as he views your page. So even if he doesn't click on your link, you get the sale if he buys!

You are in control. - The visitors will never know that they've been "cookied" with your affiliate id.

No more long, ugly looking affiliate links. - All your visitor will see is the normal link to the main site. They won't know an affiliate sent them there.

===

As Julia says, this is sneaky.

If you use Covert Affiliate without first getting permission from the affiliate merchant you risk being dumped from the affiliate program and losing your commissions.
