Has anyone had the opportunity to use Overture's Site Match service? Opinions, thoughts, etc?

I am NOT happy about this at all. I am currently working on optimising my web site but I am having second thoughts.
The bad thing is that Overture is Not only charging for inclusion, they are also charging you on a pay per click basis after you have worked so hard to get a top ranking. The rewards for getting a top ranking is a Massive Bill from Overture. Why don't they just keep things the way they were. They are getting Very Greedy if you ask me. _________________ http://www.iclickshop.com

I read the general information they sent in an email and I'm not sure I understand exactly how Site Match works.
Will only paid inclusion sites appear in Overture results in the future?

Overture results have always been paid inclusion in that they are PPC. My understanding of Site Match is the same as what messy posted ... paid inclusion and ppc combined, and not cheap either.

The graphic shown on the Site Match information page shows a Yahoo search results page and it appears the Site Match "results" are in the place where non-paid or normal search results now appear.
In other words, it looks like results on Yahoo that are now not paid inclusion will soon be paid inclusion.

Well, sort of. Not all of them.
For example, if you do a search for an unpopular search term, for example "branding", Overture will display this page:
http://www.overture.com/d/search/?type=home&mkt=us&Keywords=branding
Most of the listings on that page are sponsored but if you scroll down you'll see the bottom few are labeled "additional listing".
I haven't checked lately, but I assume the additional listings are still coming from Inktomi.
So it is possible to get listed in Overture without paying - you just need to be well ranked in Inktomi for obscure terms that hardly any advertisers are willing to pay for
Here's another example: Try a search for "insanely rich".
Only the top four listings are paid for. _________________ Allan Gardyne

| I get hits from overture often at one of my blogs. Terms from "wall streeet" to "stretching your IQ." A.G. Makes a good point. |

I've been reading a bit about Site Match today.
My understanding so far is those sites that come up in Yahoo search results naturally will continue to appear in those results.
With Site Match, you pay an annual fee of $49 per URL plus an amount per click for each time someone clicks on your listing. Paying that $49 fee doesn't guarantee you any type of placement, just that your site will be spidered every 48 hours or so.
For some (many? most?) there may be no advantage in using Site Match. Maybe someone who updates a site often and wants new content indexed right away and is willing to pay a CPC fee every time someone accesses that content would use Site Match.
Beyond that, there are a number of aspects of Site Match that I don't understand at this time. There is something about a free submission feature to be introduced soon. And I'm not sure who they are trying to attract with Site Match - this certainly doesn't seem to be a big threat to Google at this point.
If anyone else gathers any info, please post.

To shed a little more light on the subject. The $49 is ONLY for one URL (ex. www.associateprograms.com) and an additional $29 for each other URL (ex. www.associateprograms.com/discus/). The pay-per-click has only 2 categories. You either pay .15 or .30 per click.
Yahoo! has said that there is no guarantee that your site will be at the top if you choose to use SiteMatch, so you better optimize each URL for your keyterm before you submit or it will be a waste until you do.
The good thing about the paid inclusion is the Yahoo!'s bot (Slurp) will continue to index your site every 48 hours for all you tweakers out there.
Why is this good? Because you can continue to tweak your website and have the Yahoo! Slurp index your site every 48 hours with your most relevant content and really see if your new content is ranking well inside of Yahoo!'s search pages. And if it's not, tweak some more until it ranks well.
For the pay-per-click, if you plan on doing SiteMatch, I would highly recommend you optimize your URL's your submitting to Overture to be 3 or 4 word keyterm phrases.
Why? Because then you'll know you are hitting that niche of people really wanting more info about that specific topic, very targeting "clicks" to your site. Ultimitely resulting in a sale ( ). That way, you keep you cost per click (CPC) done and get a good rate on investment (ROI).
Yahoo! is trying to take the market away from Google. And with whispers that AOL might drop Google and go with Yahoo!, things could get interesting...but nothing is certain yet!
I hope this helps! _________________ 2009 Insider Secrets
