Hello all
Well, I've been visiting associateprograms for quite some time and find it an invaluable resource. My "work in progress" is www.crazyaboutkiwis.com, a site with the intention of leading visistors to quality, informative sites that relate to New Zealad. Please bear in mind that the site is still very much in it's infancy, and if anything is a learning tool for me. If you have the time to spare, would welcome your thoughts and feedback.
Regards
Interesting idea! Here are a few things I would suggest:
Even though you have the "Home" link on each page, I would still recommend linking your logo to your home page as well. It is one of the first places people comfortable with the web go to get back to the front page.
I would also suggest you use your primary site keyphrase in your "Home" text link ... Maybe "CrazyAboutKiwis.com - New Zealand Directory Home"
I think you will need a search feature once you get a lot of content on your site, not everyone would know Kiwi is the bird of New Zealand ... they may look under "B" for bird if you hadn't mentioned it in your intro paragraph. Atomz.com offers a free service that I use on my site, and it works great.
I would recommend you do more research on keyphrases for your site ... you have "R" as restaurants ... but there is likely to be more than that for "R" items relating to New Zealand ... you have food and wine as keywords, but those should be under "F" and "W" respectively if you want to really offer a good directory. Cross-referencing is important.
I would also suggest more content than one sentence. Try for 3 or 4 sentences on each item. It gives your visitors more of what they want, and helps the SE's to index your site. As it stands now, even with 3 or 4 entries per page, there is literally no content for indexing.
Your home page should maybe wax a little poetic on the beauty and offerings of New Zealand. The way it is now is more like a dictionary, not a directory about New Zealand. Also, offer some small pictures for some of the items ... for restaurants or food you could show a couple appetizing dishes, or foods native to New Zealand, New Zealand wine bottles for wine, famous New Zealand art, poster of "Lord of the Rings" ... oops ... you have Lord of the Rings as a keyphrase but no entry under "L" "R" or "M" for movies?
You want to draw your visitors into the site ... give them some ideas with content and pictures on your home page that link to the relavent page(s) within your site ... write some articles of your own to link within your site as well and do them from your perspective ... that's what people want, personal experiences and perspectives ... personality!
On your home page, you have keyphrases "news, headlines" but none are showing ... get some! Don't target keyphrases if you aren't offering the information relating to that keyphrase
I realize you said it isn't done but I wanted to give you a view of what I would look for if I wanted info on New Zealand.
Just a quick view, hope this helps.

Hi Mike
What more can say? Just follow all that excellent advice from Debs.
I clicked on K and found:
Kiwi - New Zealand's native, flightless bird and a national symbol.
Correct, but a bit stodgy.
You could say something like this...
Kiwi - No, a "kiwi" is NOT a brown, furry fruit. Only Americans think that. As everyone well informed knows, a kiwi is New Zealand's native, flightless bird and a national symbol. A Kiwi with a capital K is a New Zealander - and we're well known for flying to all parts of the world.
All the best from a fellow Kiwi. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Debs, Allan and Eric
Agree with all your comments - and the majority of your suggestions are along the lines of content/enhancements I have planned...I guess I've been just keen to have "something" online, rather than waiting for the finished product before going live. I'd like to say it's great to have quick and authoritative feedback on this forum - sure does boost the enthusiasm levels. I'll keep you posted when enhancements are added.
