Hi Jeff,

I see that Debs has shown you the Idea

But since I took the time to build a sample site map page for your site, I'm going to post this anyway:

URL edited out by Bob on 12/30/03.

I'll leave the page up for 24 hours or so.

Regards,

Bob

Robert,

What can I say , but Thank You very very much .

I will of course use the page and keep your link at the bottom ( unless it kills my rankings , which it wont because i'm not ranked ) that was simply very thoughtful of you.

Thank you Everyone again !

Jeff

Thanks for the offer, but that was not my intention. Just use the sample as a guide, if you like, but do not place my link on your site map page. It would do you more harm than good in the search engines because our site themes are not related.

Best regards,

Robert

Do a search for css templates, or css based web templates, or similar. Don't use my structure as there is a NN4 glitch in it I am working on fixing now.

Brought to my attention by the illustrious editors at DMOZ with a warning that if it isn't fixed my site is unlikely to be admitted to their directory *SIGH*

Full css templates can be hard to find. I usually get a template with graphics and basic structure I like, then modify to full css. However, you can find some very nice table based structure templates that use css for formatting everything. Don't hesitate to go this route also.

Carpunky,
Just search Google for CSS menus and find one you like Smile Learn to use the SE's to find things, it really works! lol

Jeff,

If you are having trouble with text links for your menu, remember that it is perfectly OK to use graphics for the menu (which the SEs won't be able to follow), as long as you include text links to your sitemap and other important pages somewhere on your page.

Many people just have a row of text links (with appropriate anchor text) at the bottom (for the SEs), and then you can do whatever you like with the menu for the human visitors.

Cheers,
Charlie.

Hi Everyone,

As one who is (very) new to this business, I too am pouring over anything I can find about sitemaps. I think I understand the basic concept of a sitemap and its importance to being indexed by the various search engines, not to mention the convenience for website viewers, but I am not sure about where to place or set one up on my Site Build It! site.

My question: the sitemap(s) is listed on the menu of the index (home) page, but is the sitemap(s) itself a tier-2 or tier-3 page? or does it really matter on which tier the sitemap(s) is placed on?

Sincerely,

Don

Make your sitemap/s tier 2, rather than tier 3. Give the spiders as little work to do as possible, that way there is every chance they will find your sitemap/s and follow your links Smile

All the best,
Larry Chamberlain.

Thanks Larry,

I think it's all starting to make sense.

Best wishes,
