Post subject: Which Ebook Creator?
|
|
|
Hi Guys,
Haven't been here for ages <hanging my head in shame> I must do better (now that brings back lovely school memories!)
All your well aimed kicks up the backside long, long ago have finally paid off - I have been pretty busy writing away Need a cure for typing cramp now - as if the kicks up the backside didn't hurt enough.
So here I am, asking for help yet again. My, my, one of these days I really will contribute something useful to this forum
There's probably a very simple answer to this question but I can't find it! I have been writing away in 'Word' without much thought about the actual finished product. When I finally get a website, how on earth does someone download this wonderful ebook of mine?! Do I have to convert the file to something else or can it be downloaded in Word? Is there an easy/not very expensive way to do it?
See told you it was real easy question
As always, appreciate any advice you wonderful lot may have to offer!
Kind regards,
Kathy |

Converting to a PDF is the easiest and cheapest. If you have Adobe Acrobat installed, then you can just "print" to that PDF Writer, then put that up for download. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Hiya,
Ahem, going to be pretty dense here I think
I have Adobe Acrobat installed but it doesn't give me the option of 'new', just the option to 'open'. Guess I haven't got the full singing and dancing version?
Cheers,

You convert directly from Word. Not from Adobe.
You open Word.
Open your EBook.
From the File menu, choose Print.
You should have an option for the "adobe printer" (I forget what it is called )
After choose print, you will be asked for a file name. Enter the name and location you want your ebook created in.
Click OK.
Then go open your PDF and proof it. Make any changes in Word and recreate it. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

www.pdf995.com was mentioned as providing a free converter if you only have the Acrobat reader and not the whole box and dice with Acrobat Distiller.
It creates an html ad page every time you use it and you'll need to flush out the accumulation of these from time to time but it works well. You just choose print and then select it as your "printer" to do the conversion.
Cutepdf is also mentioned as suitable.

Kathy,
IMPORTANT!!!:
You can make an eBook and make it downloadable for free: visit here:
http://www.databasedesign-resource.com/resources.html
At the bottom of that page you will find my free eBook on how to create and publish an eBook for free.
Also consult my thread:
http://associateprograms.com/discus/viewtopic.php?t=2010
Easy as a piece of cake; don't buy anything to get it done: You are already there, having written it in Word...
One more thing, Kathy; if there is something you want to ask: DON'T post me private, put it in this thread, as it may be useful to others like you, and I'll answer you here, for all to read. OK?
Good luck, _________________ DatabaseDesigner

Whatever you do, I don't recommend you let anyone download a Word file of your book. Too tempting to unscrupulous people
PDF is the de facto standard and the resources Db offers are excellent.
