As a starter (and, I assume you don't want to spend any money?) why not start by building a blog on Google Blogger.
Free and easy to do, and you will learn a lot by building one there.
To give you an example, here's one of mine there, and you can start your own from there:

No, the site is PR8 (Google rates it's own properties well <grin>)
The inner pages like my individual blog(s) will be lower - however 'piggy backing' yourself onto a high PR site like blogger does give you a bit of a head start in the ranking race.

Hi, there are so many websites available on the Internet in which you can create your blog easily. Some of them include "multiply.com", "blogger.com", "weebly.com", "wordpress.com" etc...

| No need for software..you can create a blog using the "http://www.thewebpole.com/" which provides the quick blogcast tool. You can use this and create your blog easily.Here you can Post photos, images, animations or videos.. |

You don't have to use any software to build blogs. Visit blogspot and in simple three steps you can have your blog ready. Once you are done with blogspot, you can create blogs in similar other blog service.
