I noticed no one had answered this question, so I'll have a go.
I think you have a good idea. The most important thing would be to provide genuinely USEFUL reviews of the membership sites, so that your visitors learn to trust you.
Also, study your competition and think of ways to be better than them.
For example, better website design, easier to understand reviews, better quick summaries, more humor and personality.
If the competition looks really strong, consider carving off a small sub-niche and be THE expert in that sub-niche.
Even if you do have competitors, don't worry too much. There's only one YOU, with your personality and opinions, so you can still make your site different from everyone else's. So, don't be bland.
