I would like some comments from anyone who has purchased Rosalind Gardner's SuperAffiliate Handbook - "How I made $436,797 last year selling other people's stuff online"

The sales pitch on her web site is impressive, so I ask the following questions :

Having read the ebook would you recommend it ?

Have you followed her advice and are now making more money online?

I am interested in your comments and recommendation as I am thinking about purchasing the ebook.

Thanks
Kiwi

PS Allan , I wish you a speedy recovery back to good health.

Hi Kiwi,
I did purchase the book. It is worth every penny I paid for. To top it all, She is extremely helpful and friendly. She is the main reason that I finally got off my backside to start affilliate marketing. Hope I'm not going on and on but its a brilliant, methodical guide to earning money in the affiliate game.Happy reading

Hi,

I purchased it too. It was a great book that I can actually recommend. I learned alot from it, and from looking at her sites described in the e-book.

Hope that helped,

Cody

Hi Kiwi,

I have bought and read the book. Is it worth buying? Yes, it's one of the better reads in a crowded market, but some points to bear in mind:

If you are an experienced affiliate marketer you will already know a lot of what is in the book - it's very detailed (over 260 A4 pages), which is great for beginners, but for anybody who is already earning a full time living from affiliate programs, there will be a lot of info that is not new.

The other point is that there is a focus on pay per click as a method of getting traffic and as a guide to using this method it is great - but there are plenty of people earning money on the net without paying for traffic, so it's only one approach. Remember that paying per click means a lot of time spent monitoring your ads to make sure that you are in profit and not losing money. While Rosalind does advocate building a useful site so that your visitors return to you and building a newsletter as an important way to generate income, a lot of the book concerns pay per click. (Although there is a section on getting free traffic). There is also a breakdown of Affiliate Networks - CJ, Linkshare, etc - again great for beginners, but a lot of information which any experienced person will already be familiar with.

So, as I think Alan pointed out in one of his newsletters [ http://www.associateprograms.com/search/newsletter225.shtml#a1 ] - it's not a book for everyone, but if you are new to affiliate programs and you are thinking about the pay per click route (at least initially, until you have reasonable flow of free traffic), then yes, go for it.

One other small criticism is that just about every link in the book is an affiliate link - as Rosalind points out why not in a book which teaches you how to market affiliate programs, but it does occassionally make you wonder if the link is there because its a fantastic resource or service which happens to have an affiliate program - maybe I am just getting a bit cynical but I am always a bit sceptical when somebody endorses a product with an affiliate link (see post above!). On the other hand, that is what we all do in one way or another with our web sites, so fair enough.

By the way, another good book for anyone new to affiliate marketing is Chuck's 'Affiliate Mistakes' ebook. Ken Evoy's free ebook / email course is also good (and it's free - you don't have to buy Make my site sell or Site Build it).

Whether you buy Rosalinds book or not, it's worth signing up for her free newsletter - like Alan, she comes across as a nice person and has some interesting things to say.

Hope this helps you decide.

Mark.

Question
Hello, Everybody,

At the risk of being really churlish, I'm afraid I have to disagree about Ros's Affiliate book.

For a start, anyone who reads Ken Evoy's 10 part Affiliate Tutorial will have AT LEAST 90% of what is in that book - and let's not forget, Ken's excellent tutorial comes FREE.

Why should a book, largely a repeat of what is already easily available, and stuffed with the Author's Affiliate links cost so much?

I bought it, read it and i have to confess that I felt really disappointed at Allan for his promotion of this book. Sure, it's a good 'sell' for any affiliate marketer, but I'd have come to expect a bit more from Allan and so many others.

Now, I find heads of spam landing in my 'in' box promoting the same book.

So, my advice is: if you don't want Ken Evoy's free tutorial, then consider investing the hefty sum required in this.

Meanwhile, warmest good wishes to Allan - we are all wishing him well fast to continue to stimulate and support us all.

Hmm, I don't know about you folks, but I haven't read an ebook yet that wasn't full of affiliate links, so I don't know why we should hold this against Ms. Gardner.

I have to agree that much of the information contained within can be found elsewhere, but that is also the case with 99% of the ebooks out there. There is an excellent section on determining the profit potential of a particular subject that I haven't seen before, however.

Bottom line, it is as good an ebook as any for learning the affiliate game. Yes, she concentrates on using pay per click search engines, but that is okay; they work! Unless you are investing several thousands of dollars, it really isn't that difficult keeping up with your PPC costs.

Friends!

Allow me to add my 0.02 to the thread. And this is a general comment.

Lets keep in mind that information and knowledge is not an absolute factor at all. What's valuable information for you, might be an old paper telling yesterdays news for others. All depends on how much "savvy" you are in a particular field.

A book might be very valuable for those with limited knowledge about the subject and wish to learn more. But it wouldn?t be of interest to you if you have reached an advanced level of knowledge and experience in that same particular subject.

When I studied chemistry at university for around 30 years ago, I felt frustrated sometimes. Why couldn't they write one or two comprehensive books about organic chemistry instead of several books which I should study through several years? Several og those books covered part of the same subject.
I asked at that time one of my teachers about the same. His answer was; BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE OR TWO BOOKS THAT CAN TEACH YOU ALL ABOUT ORGANIC CHEMISTRY!!! You should "collect" knowledge from several resources. Some contain much and others contain only little. But you have to study them all if you wish to be a chemist.

I guess the same apply to affiliate marketing. There is no one book or resource which can teach you all about the subject. And of course, the more advanced and savvy you are in your knowledge on a subject, the more difficult will be to find a book on the same subject that can live up to your expectations.

I wish you all a great weekend.

All the best,

Harith

I have just purchased and read this book and I highly recommend it!! I am a beginner so I guess I am really impressed. I also have KE's free Affiliate Masters Course and find that very good also, however Rosalind's book is much better IMO.

Of course most of her links are her own affliates but that's OK because I really don't think she would recommend and use those products/services if they weren't good and look how much money she is making...

From my point of view I am planning to take what she says and what Ken says in both books and put it all together to make my living online. I think Ros' book was expensive (esp. in AU$) but I sincerely think it is worth every cent for one, complete, well written, no-fluff manual on affliate marketing.

Hi Kiwi!
I've to agree to the most comments above that Rosalind's ebook is
very good, but mainly focused on beginners who know nothing about
the affiliate game.
I personally think that James Martell's ebook is a lot better, because
he shows a lot more detailed how to win the affiliate game. It's also
focused mainly on beginners, but includes a few tricks and tips like his
sitemap structure and when or where to place an affiliate link. It's a
lot more expensive than Rosalind's ebook but worth every penny.
http://www.ebooks242.com/jamesmartell

But the best (affiliate ebook) is the new ebook from J.F. (Jim) Straw:
It's easy to read and focuses mainly on building your own mailing list.
Yes, you read it right! He claims you even don't need a website to win
the affiliate game. First I thought o.k. Blahblahblahblahblahblalala
Who is this guy who gives this stupid advice? But after I've read
carefully his sales letter and looked for more info about Jim, I had to
change my mind. Here is what he has done:
"Over the past 30 years, I have (really) sold over $250 Million worth of products and services -- everything from Beauty Supplies to Heavy Equipment ... Burglar Alarms to Sleeping Bags ... Fishing Lures to Women's Wigs ... Automobiles to Wheelchairs ... Seafood to Investment Opportunities ... Consulting Services to "How-To" Courses - all by mailorder."
I was hooked and bought the ebook which isn't cheap, but after I have
read it twice, I have now started to apply what he teaches. It's very
different from what the other Gurus teaches you about affiliate marketing.
But you don't have any startup costs and can start immediately without
building a website! Ok, ok I stop now. I'm sounding like a sales pitch, but
I was so shocked, why I haven't thought about this possibility earlier.
"Do I really want to make money on the Internet, or am I just playing pretend?"

Thanks for your time
