Post subject: URL Filtering
|
|
|
Hi All, this is my first post, but I have been reading this forum and Allan's newsletter for quite some time - great stuff from Allan (get well) and a lot of good people on this forum are willing to help, it's nice to see.
I use Adwords to drive traffic to one of my sites and on this site I just started using Adsense. My question is, could my own site appear in the Adsense Ads (due to my Adwords advertising) and should I filter my site out in URL filtering on Adsense so this doesn't happen?
Thanks

My understanding is that any site that sports Adsense is automatically removed from appearing in the ads on that site.

| Thanks Debs, I thought that would be the case but had not read it anywhere. |

You know much more about Adsense than I do, I suspect, but I read in Audri Lanford's course that it was a good idea to block your own domain - or at least that's how I interpreted it.
Have things changed, or am I barking up ther wrong tree?
Cheers,

| I would go ahead and block your URL since there is no reason you would want to incur expenses from a visitor who is already on your site. |

Brad,
My AdWords ads were appearing on AdSense ads on my site until I added my own URL to AdSense filtering.
That would seem to indicate the answer to your question is "Yes."
I can't think of any downside to adding your own site to URL filtering since the filtering only affects your site.

Yes. It happened to me on one of my sites. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks for the help. I will add my own URL to the filtering, I guess my bigger concern was if there was any potential downside to doing this, but it would seem that there really is not as Bobby has stated.
Although, I guess if you have multiple sites it may not hurt if your Adwords Ads drive traffic (through adsense) from one of your sites to the other (at a discount with your returned Adsense revenue!), but I suspect this would be a rare occurrence for most.
Thanks again, this is a great forum Allan.

Hi neodemes,
Click on settings tab near the top of the screen after you log into Adsense (the middle tab I think) and then click URL Filtering just below this tab - the next screen will allow you to add or remove filters.

I guess, that since you can control the links on any of your sites, it's better to drive traffic through those links, than to pay Google any money to do it.
Just my two cents...
