Interested to hear what other SBI owners are doing
to come up with the endless amount of good quality
content for their pages ?

At last count I had done 30 pages and another 40 or so pages to go.

Paying others to write content is starting to look pretty attractive !

Any comments on how good or bad these are :

1-James Martell's Affiliate Marketers Handbook
2-James Martell's free bonus report of getting other to write contect ?
3-Gary Antosh's Creating Website Content Fast
4- Or others ?

* Thanks to all the helpfull posters on this forum !!
Special thanks to Deb - Does she ever sleep ?

Yes I sleep and soundly too Wink

I have to say Martell's Affiliate Masters book is excellent if you want to build a lot of sites quickly. I don't feel his focus on content is as good as the content I find on passion oriented sites, but his productivity methods are awesome.

I have to go with Gary's ebook on getting content since I helped edit it! Wink It is a phenomenal step by step guide that can give you the confidence to hire your content out.

I still write a lot of content for my site because I am a wordy person Wink but I have two sites coming that will be taking a different tack from my passion site. I'm still having a lot of fun too so this should be a fun year! Smile

Bobcat,

I own all 3 Wink

There is value in all of them. I own SBI sites as well. Is one better than the other. In a word - NO. They are all parts of the puzzle (tools) that help create a business. I think we focus too much on is this better then that.

I have a list of dozens of eBooks I purchased. Some cheap, some not so cheap. Many times I find only 1 or 2 pages in the eBook that make me say it's all worth it.

Add to the mix - Sean Burns - Ranking Revealed

Again it is just a tool in my toolbox.

You need to build a site with content built for the visitor and SE

Just my 2 cents,

On the issue of finding content to write about, as I finish writing one article, it always spurs ideas for 2 or 3 different articles. As you can imagine, my list is getting pretty long! Laughing

I think you mentioned somethere there Robert that most people miss.

You said list. I know that personally, I have a hard time remembering stuff. So I use lists (not as much as I should though).

So, as your writing Article 1, keep track of ideas for articles 2 - n-1. Then work on Article 2, and keep track of the next set of article ideas and so on.

You'll find you have a lot more to write about that way.

Or, you can try Gary's book... Debs has it in her signature. I haven't used it, but Debs likes it, so it must be good... Smile

Deb,
How is Gary's book for different types of sales copy? For example products, sales, professional web site like architects etc.?

Are you looking to write sales copy, or to develop content?

That's two different beasts... and as such you have two totally different site concepts. And different ebooks cover each topic.

Good question Edburdo! I am looking at developing copy for several different web sites. I know it must meet several criteria taken from Ken Evoy's e-book Make Your Words Sell. I learn by looking at lots of examples but don't want to plagiarize.

1-how to sell a product
2-how to sell a professional service
3-how to write copy for affiliate web sites that contain products and services.
Thanks,

For content sites, Gary's ebook is excellent. It doesn't matter what "topic" you need the content on. You determine that when you set things up, as well as the slant you may want an article to take, etc. You will want to check out Gary's old thread on building content, or the article published in one of Allan's last newsletters (November I think?) to get an idea.

Now, for actual one page site "sales letters" ... no, that isn't what Gary's ebook is about.

You would obviously want to write some content yourself, particularly what might be referred to as a product page (high conversion). Content pages utilizing writers for hire are for quick, on topic, quality content to get more pages, more info, on your site faster. It is common to use these pages to feed to your high conversion product pages.

You could also take, for example, a 400 word hired content article, add a paragraph and turn it into a high conversion product page very easily.

Just a few thoughts,
Debs

I did a search for this thread and it had "no results". I searched for "building content" in Gary's posts, then just "content" in Gary's posts. No results either way. Is Gary's username not "Gary", maybe? Confused

I want to read his thread but can't find it. And when I search for these KW's (content, writing content, etc) by themselves, there are hundreds Shocked of results to read through to find what I'm really looking for. Alot of them are really about writing Sales copy, not content that PRE-sells Rolling Eyes .

I enjoy writing, but most of my writing has been for college papers and such. So the way I write is not the most effective way to write for the web. I've researched it some and know that web-writing needs to be scannable, general-to-specific (academic writing is the opposite), and concise. Obviously, writing concisely is not my forte! Laughing

Web-writing is an art, not a science. Not only does it need to provide valuable info in a short, scannable format, it has to be carefully optimized for search engines. Like any art-form, I know that the more I do it, the better I'll get. Hopefully, the more I do it, the faster I'll get too! Wink Writing with all these considerations in mind takes alot of time for a beginner...

Anyway, I'd like to find Gary's thread and I plan to get his e-book too (through Debs' link, of course! Wink ). Like using Allan's directory FIRST when I'm looking for affiliate programs to join; I think the best way to thank those who help us the most is to use their links. Very Happy I hope everyone else does too!

Yes, that is the thread on getting content fast by Gary <speedguide> Sorry, I should have referred to his posting name, my apologies.

Writing for the web is an art form that takes time to learn. I did notice the results.sitesell.com has a site or two about copywriting that may be of interest to you as well.
