| The main difference is in products supported by these OSs, Windows supports MS products like .NET and also compatible with others such as php or mysql |

I want to add that I prefer to use services form the companies which support both Linux and Windows OSs such as happy-hosting or webhostgiant, for instance.
Using such services you are able to change plans when you need it. |

Great explaination "Bartok". It differs on products that support .net for windows.
For me i prefer to use linux hosting, very user friendly Cpanel.

Yeah, I also prefer venders that have both linux and windows web hosting. IV has both and they have some easy to understand info on their page to help you!
