If you want traffic to your site you get your links in front of people in the places they visit that are relevant to their search.
The only links that truly matter are the links that real people will click on.
Now follow along. If you put your links in places where people will actually click on them ... Google and Bing will both pick up on this. And you'll be rewarded with real traffic and SEO.
If you place links all over that people will never click on Google and Bing will pick up on this and those "junk" links could hurt you not help you.
Focus on People and the SEO will fall into place.
This is why mass submitters do NOT work.

Only quality backlinks are important to get good ranking. Google doesn't consider whether people are following(clicking) your backlinks.

We must be clear we build backlinks for 2 purposes - PR and traffic.
Some nofollow backlinks bring good traffic. They are also useful.

I believe that a backlinks is nonsense if it is not followed that's why we have to use do follow sites. If it is not followed, there are small chances to gain a higher page rank.

Hi,
Another good trick to get quality backlinks is to type your main keyword phrase into google and look at all the sites that come up on the first page or even the second and look to see if they have an article section.
If they do then leave a comment on an article with a link back to your site in the comment box, this way you you are getting high ranking niche targetted backlinks as well,

People use to stress over blogs and pages being indexed, and links being found, but the SE's today are very fast and good at what they do - crawl the web. For this reason you can safely build and go, and have faith that they will find your links and credit you; that's from a SEO standpoint, not user of course.

Personally, I think Google no longer differentiates follow and no-follow, because it doesn't look at juice-sculpting, or whatever it's called, very favorably. Just as it stays away from implementing 'rules' that a competitor can abuse to destroy another, it also tends to go neutral on 'rules' that one could abuse to promote a site that may just be full of crap. Just my 2 cents.
