Hi, has anyone had any experience with a site called linkroll.com ?
I just recently started with affiliate marketing with articles through Articlesbase. Anyway, I had written 12 articles for one product and was on page 1 of Google for 31 keyword phrases. I thought that was great, but then I saw where linkroll.com was using my titles and summaries word for word, and had taken over my positions for 5 articles. When clicked on, it went to a list of similar products on their site. I complained to AB, but they said they couldn't do anything about it and said to contact linkroll. I did, but they are still doing it. To add insult to injury, most of my listings just disappeared from the 1st. page of Google. ???
Very discouraging. Afraid to write more articles. Would I be better off creating a website and sending traffic there, or writing an ebook on a subject I'm familiar with? Would that give more protection?
Thanks much. |

Your situtation certainly sounds frustrating.
Unfortunately, content theft is all too common. One of the reasons that content theft has reached epidemic proportions is that most people don't do anything about it.
There is always something that you can do if you decide it is worth your time.
If linkroll does not help you, you can always contact their hosting company and send them a DMCA takedown notice. You can search Google for "DMCA takedown notice" or "DMCA takedown letter" for samples of the info to include. carefully read the infomation you find so that you can format your notice correctly.
Most hosting companies are smart enough to take DMCA notices very seriously.
I wouldn't stop writing articles if I were you because it's far too effective a technique to give up on.
I hope that you get your situation resolved. _________________ FOREX PLR - Forex PLR Article Pack W/1400 Word Mega Article! |

I used to chase them down before but now I just don't bother.
Having said that I thought linkroll was a social bookmarking site. If your titles and content are showing up there, perhaps someone is bookmarking your pages, which really is not a bad thing
There usually is a link to the original source of the content. Unfortunately, in the case of linkroll it's a redirect not a direct link. But could still get you some direct traffic _________________ Free Marketing Videos

Welcome to the real world. Embedd your articles with affiliate links so that it is annoyingly difficult for those who choose to "steal" them to do so.
And once your articles are public you can expect them to be reposted, scraped, and used. _________________

That's how internet world is all about. Most of us have already experienced that. I myself experienced it but what I did, I make my own site and put all my articles there, now my site is generating traffic and I'm earning what I have work for. _________________ Sydney Hotels

Have to agree with the other responses, article theft seems to be growing daily. Unfortunately it really is difficult to do anything about. The cost of trying to "enforce" your ownership and rights to certain articles is much greater than the cost of doing nothing. Hence why the problem keeps growing. _________________ XSitePro Coupon

True to say the problem is growing because people don't do anything about it.
I had one of my articles taken from an article directory - the bio had been stripped out so my links had gone. The article was just dumped on a shitty MFA site obviously made by a complete amateur, with a load of other articles presumably ripped off from other authors.
I tried contacting the WM, and then complained to their host, but is it really worth filing a DMCA complaint? I have neither the resoures nor the will to pursue it if it's disputed.
Seems a bit daft when the site will be buried for having nothing original on it. _________________ $50 sign up bonus, 50% commission on high converting products? What are you waiting for! |

Earlier, I have had success in contacting Google and complained in case there were AdSense on those sites.
But last time I tried, I got a message saying that I should send a written complain in a real letter and it sounded like so much work that I didn't bother.
It might be due to the case that this site was Arabic. Not sure. _________________ Britt Malka

While i'm reading articles in net i've read that now there are better ways to find out if someone is stealing your content also known as plagiarism to help you to find out. You can use site like Copyscape to help you find out if your content is being used without your permission. |

I wonder if the main problem is not being able to prove you are the original author. We write articles and post them online the same day without getting a legally copyright. Even then that wouldn't stop articles being stolen. There are all kinds of security at banks but they still get robbed.
Put them on your website, if some one steal it from there you will know you had a visitor. |

| I am surprised there hasn't been some kind of litigation with people using other's articles, but then again, we write the articles so others can use them but keep out bylines, if they are not refering to your site as the originator of the article, that is against copy right rules |

That's really annoying! It’s my first time to hear such site though but I'll check it myself to see what they're doing. Why can't they just make their own original content instead of crawling others effort. _________________ http://www.freshstorebuilder.com/
