If you've got Microsoft Frontpage, you could give that a shot if you want a traditional website. Lots of people use that when they are just starting out.
I'd second the Wordpress suggestion for a blog.
You can have Wordpress host it on their own servers for free (option 1), or set up your own hosting and ftp the wordpress system to your own server (option 2).
The first option will let you play with it to learn how things work, but the second option is the one you should use for using affiliate links.

WordPress really isn't a design tool... that's the power. Everything is done for you. You install it, choose a template, your plugins then just start writing. The software takes care of the design so you don't have to.
Unless you are interested in design and creating pages from scratch (Very Time Consuming) there is no longer much reason to bother with design.
Focus on marketing and content.
Give WordPress a try.
If you don't like it and want easier you can always create Squidoo Lenses and Hub Pages or Blogger Blogs and then work with Articles and Article Directories.
There are many affiliate marketers I come across that are doing quite well without creating their own sites. _________________

if you want to create you website manually use Adobe dreamweaver, and if you want to create your site easily just go to wordpress and embed whatever you want. |

Such an old post but some valid info.
Wordpress is great for learning. Like others have said, it does the designing for you. The reason I think it is good for learning design is because you can have it do most of the work and spend your time trying things out and editing the theme for your own personal needs.
Wordpress has an editor built in, it may seem hard at first but the more you look at it the more it will make sense and if you can edit in Wordpress you can edit anything in my opinion. _________________ Call Tracking Sofware for marketing & advertising.

I dont consider WordPress an actual web design tool, its for blogging and a blog is not actually a full website. It is an option though. When I need a quick and easy design option I use Wix or Webstarts for full sites. _________________ Latest reviews @: largest web hosting fastest web hosting |

i will agree on templates, use wordpress. there are a lot of free templates out there but wordpress is easy and simple. i would also suggest taking a short free course with hp.com's learning center to understand how to make simple changes to the template. _________________ icontact, email marketing services |
