This report includes nine survey questions (below) and answers, as well as a number of resources for affiliate managers.
Questions asked in the survey:
1. Have you read the CAN-SPAM Act?
2. Do you think the CAN-SPAM Act will significantly reduce SPAM?
3. Have you done anything to educate your affiliates about the new law?
4. Do you currently offer HTML e-mail creative to your affiliates?
5. Will you be offering HTML e-mail creative to your affiliates in 2004?
6. Do you opt-in to the e-mail lists of all of your affiliates to monitor what they are doing?
7. Do you plan to prohibit your affiliates from promoting your affiliate program via e-mail?
8. Do you think your company should be liable for the actions of your affiliates when they are promoting your company?

Thanks... interesting reading.
Either CAN-SPAM is a virtual storm in a teacup, or the industry isn't taking things seriously, by the look of it.
A bit of both, no doubt...
I found the reluctance by merchants to communicate with their affiliates the most worrying (though not surprising).

It's odd but since the beginning of the month I have seen more S*P*A*M than ever. And every single one of them has the "Fwd" notation in the subject ... is this their way of supposedly getting by the law?
